Setup
- Place the Festival board in the middle of the table and the Scoring board next to it according to the number of players.
- Shuffle the Permanent Objective cards and create a deck. Draw and place 3 face up cards, together with this deck, on one side of the Festival board.
- Create a deck with the Festival cards with the single-note symbol in them and 8 random cards with the beamed-notes symbol. Shuffle them and place 3 face up cards, together with this deck, on the other side of the Festival board. For a more advanced game, shuffle all the Festival cards and draw 15 cards to create a deck.
- Each player chooses a color and takes their 6 Audience tokens, their marker and their Scoring counter. Then, they place their marker and their Scoring counter near the Scoring board. In a 4 players game, put the 2x2 square tokens back to the box.
The player who has been in a music festival most recently takes the Start of a Round marker. In turn and clockwise order, each player will place on the board an Audience token from the player on their left until each player has placed 3 Audience tokens.
In a 2 players game, do the same, but with the tokens of a color that has not been chosen (3 tokens per player). These tokens cannot be moved during the game and they will count when scoring the majorities.
The Audience tokens must be completely inside the Festival grid and they cannot cover other Audience tokens or the special locations.
Return all remaining components back to the box.
Game Sequence
The game is played in rounds, starting with the player who has the Start of a Round marker. Players' turns go in clockwise order until a round is completed. In your turn, you must place one of your Audience tokens or move one of your tokens already on the board.
Remember: The Audience tokens must be completely inside the Festival grid and they cannot cover other Audience tokens or special locations.
The source shows example placements: X marks show illegal moves and check marks show legal ones.
If you complete any of the revealed Permanent Objective cards at the end of your turn, score immediately the corresponding points on the Scoring board. Keep that card and reveal a new one to replenish the empty space.
You can only claim 1 Permanent Objective per turn.
End of a Round
At the end of each round, solve the farthest Festival card from the deck by placing the markers from the Scoring board in the corresponding order. That is, from the first position (the player with the highest majority) to the last one with the card symbol (the player with the lowest majority) (marked with the pink asterisk symbol) to assign the positions. In case of a tie, follow the turn order to assign the positions.
Each player gains the bonus indicated on their space. The first player will get 4 points and the last one will get the solved Festival card. If there are more players, the second player will get 2 points and the third 1 point.
Reveal a new Festival card and leave some space to place it by moving to the right the cards already revealed.
A player must place all their gained cards face up in their play area.
Finally, the Start of a Round marker goes to the player on the left.
Example:
The pink player has 2 squares that fulfill the objective.
The green player has 5 squares that fulfill the objective.
The blue player has 0 squares that fulfill the objective.
The green player gets 4 points, the pink player gets 2 points and the blue player gets the Festival card.
End of the Game
If, at the end of a round, there are no more Festival cards or Permanent Objective cards available, the game ends.
Each player gets 5 additional points for each pair of cards (the pair symbol is a rock hand plus a microphone). A card can only be part of one pair. You can combine Festival cards and Permanent Objective cards to form pairs.
The player with the most points is the winner. In case of a tie, the tied player with the most cards is the winner.
