For 2 – 6 players. Ages 7 and up. Duration of the game: 20-40 minutes.
Object of the Game
To create the largest hamburger with the most ingredients.
Preparation
Place the Buzz-Burger in the centre of the table. Shuffle the cards and deal them all out equally between the players, face down on the table. Each player takes a card-holder.
Start of the Game
The youngest player starts, the others will follow playing clockwise.
Playing the Game
The first player turns over his top card, and places the card in front of him, (every player has his own pile), so that everybody can see the illustration. Taking turns, players must turn over one card and lay it down in front of them face up. In each turn the players lay down the card covering the cards that they previously laid down. All players must carefully watch all cards that are laid open on the table.
When two matching cards appear, it triggers an 'Ingredient Run': all the players can react at the same time, trying to hit the Buzz-Burger.
The first player to hit the Buzz-Burger chooses one of the matching cards and places it in his own Burger Bun (card-holder) on top of the previously won cards. (Illustration.) The value of every card in the Burger Bun is 1 point.
Stay alert! Taking a matching ingredient from one of the piles can trigger a new Ingredient Run when another match is found.
The player who hit the Buzz-Burger first always starts the new round, even if he hit it by mistake last time.
Continuation of the Game
If no matching card appears, nobody hits the Buzz-Burger. The next player turns over the top card of his pile, and so on.
During the game, the players' goal is to create the largest hamburger. To succeed, there is one golden rule: two cards of the same colour cannot be placed on top of each other (ex: Tomato on Tomato or Tomato on Ketchup). This means that a player should not take part in an 'Ingredient Run' if the last card he won was the same colour as the matching cards!
The ingredients are divided in 5 different colours:
- Green: Lettuce, Pickle
- Red: Tomato, Ketchup
- Yellow: Cheese, Onions, Mayonnaise | Burger, Bacon
- Orange: Half a Bun
If a player mistakenly gains a card of the same colour as the last card he gained, he has to put this card face down under his card-holder. This will count as negative score (-2 for each card mistakenly gained this way).
End of the Game
The game ends when somebody plays his last card. If there is a last Ingredient Run, it should be played.
The players then count their points: each ingredient in the card-holder is 1 point. Each mistakenly gained ingredient, placed under the card-holder, is minus 2 points.
Winner
The player with the most points wins the game.
New Game
Shuffle and deal out the cards equally to start a new game.
Remarks
Cards must always be turned open in a way that all players can see it at the same time with a disadvantage for the player in turn. When a player wins an 'Ingredient Run', for example a Lettuce run, he can pick any Lettuce cards. If a player makes a mistake, he must take one of the mistakenly gained cards and place it under his card-holder.
