Game in Brief
Fantasi can be played as an individual game, where every player plays against every other player, or as a team game, where two or more teams play against each other.
The game consists of tasks, divided across 5 topics, which must be drawn or mimed.
One player draws or mimes against the clock, and the guessing is done by the other players (in individual play) or by the drawer's teammates (in team play), who must guess the solution before time runs out.
A correct answer lets the player move toward the finish.
Setup
The task cards are shuffled and placed beside the game board. The timer, whiteboard, pen and sponge are laid out.
Each player or team chooses a pawn and places it on the start spaces outside their own lane.
Roll the die to decide who begins. The player or team with the highest number begins, and play continues with the player or team to the left.
Winner
The player or team that reaches the finish first wins the game.
How to Play
The rules for drawing are explained first, then miming.
Players or teams move their pawns along their own lane to the finish.
Individual Play
For 3-4 players.
The first player rolls the die and moves the pawn out from the start by as many spaces as the die shows.
The player then draws a task card and must draw the task that matches the colour/topic of the space he landed on.
The player gets 10 seconds of thinking time before he turns the knob on the timer to the end and begins to draw.
While the player is drawing, he may not talk or mime. He may also not use letters, numbers or symbols. All opponents may, regardless of whether it is their turn or not, suggest solutions to the task.
- If an opponent finds the solution before time runs out, both that opponent and the player who drew shall roll the die again and move forward as many spaces as the die shows. Play continues with the player to the left.
- If no one finds the solution before time runs out, the player who drew stays on the same space. Play continues with the player to the left.
Only at the start do players move before they draw. Later, one must complete the task on the space one is on before one can move the pawn.
Team Play
As few teams as possible should take part. The ideal is two teams with two or more players on each team.
The same rules apply to team play as to individual play, with the following exceptions:
The drawer's teammates are now the ones who must guess the solution. If they guess correctly before time runs out, the team gets to roll the die again and move forward as many spaces as the die shows. Play continues with the player to the left.
Players draw in turn. Each team must therefore change drawer for each round.
Miming
Adding miming makes the game even more fun. The player or team may then alternate between drawing and miming as often as desired during the time available. Otherwise, the drawing rules are followed.
If you want to mime instead of draw, the whiteboard, pen and sponge are removed.
