Goal of the Game
Your goal is to catch the Faker, or if you are the Faker, to avoid getting caught. The first player to reach 10 points WINS the game!
Content
- 150x Task Cards
- 18x Voting Tokens
- 6x Secret Wallets (5 working, 1 Faker)
- 1x Reveal Wallet
Set Up
Shuffle the Task cards thoroughly, ensuring they are face down.
Deal one secret wallet and three voting tokens of the same color to each player. Make sure the wallets are dealt out with the window side facing down, so that each player's role remains a secret.
TIP: Make sure that the group is seated in a manner that allows everyone to easily see each other. We recommend a circle!
When held the right way up, the Faker Wallet will have a window at the bottom when flipped over, as seen in the manual's illustration (insert the card, then flip the wallet over).
Note: The Faker Wallet must be used in every game. For a game of any player size, take an extra moment to check that you have included the Faker Wallet before shuffling the Secret Wallets.
The Five Categories
The task cards come in 5 categories:
- Hands of Truth – Players must either raise their hand up or keep their hand down. Example: Raise your hand if you NEVER got detention in high school.
- Number Pressure – Raise a certain number of fingers, between 1-10. Example: Raise as many fingers as times you have been to France.
- You Gotta Point – Point at another player, or even yourself! Example: Point at the person here who you think is the least good at hockey.
- Face Value – Make a facial expression. Example: Make the face you would make if you found out you were adopted.
- Text You Up – Each player must answer the question on their card out loud, truthfully. The Faker will get a different set of questions than the rest of the group, but must still answer honestly. If you're unsure whether your friends will truthfully repeat the word they've said out loud, use a pen and paper or your phone to record the answers instead. Example: Regular players receive "A TV show you think is the worst." Faker receives "A TV show that's bad but you love it anyway."
Playing a Round
- Pick a category to start with and have a player draw a task card from the chosen stack. The player will then insert the card into their wallet as seen in the manual's illustration.
- Turn the wallet over, but do not show the other players.
- If you see a task in the top window, you are NOT the Faker. Memorize the task and then pass the card to the next player.
- If you are the Faker, it will say so in the bottom window of your wallet. Time to put on that poker face – don't give anything away, simply pass the card to the next player! You will have 3 rounds to try to trick the group!
- Continue passing the task card around until all players have read it.
- Once all players say they're ready, count down together... "3, 2, 1, Fake It!" Immediately after "Fake It!", simultaneously perform the task described on the card. The Faker must try to blend in by completing the task without knowing what the card said.
- Next, with the task placed in the Reveal Wallet, count down "3, 2, 1, Reveal It!" and read it aloud. You are now free to grill everyone on their answers to find who the Faker is. Fakers, be ready to lie like crazy and shift the blame to someone else. Note: For the 'Text You Up' category, make sure to reveal the group task, but keep the secret Faker task hidden using the Reveal Wallet.
- Place your voting token in front of the player you think is the Faker.
- If the vote is unanimous, the person who is being voted against must reveal if they are, in fact, the FAKER.
- If they are the Faker, every player who voted for them gets 1 point and the Faker gets nothing. The round is over. Collect the wallets, reshuffle them and then deal them out again. Draw a card and repeat the above steps.
