The Crew: Intro & Setup
New crew have arrived to aid you in your exploration! However, they won't just work for anyone – you must prove your ships are worthy of their services first.
Separate the Crew cards into 3 piles, based on their Crew name. If playing with less than 4 players, remove any required cards (see the small number near the top right of each card).
Sort each pile into a faceup stack, with the lowest target number (see bottom left text) on the top, followed by the next lowest, and so on.
For example, with 3 players, the top Shepherd should require 4 Livestock, then 5, and then 6.
The Crew: Rules
Players recruit Crew cards by achieving their prerequisites (see the bottom left text of each card). As soon as players reach this target, they take the relevant Crew card from the pile and place it faceup in front of them. In most cases, this will reveal a new Crew card of the same name, with a slightly harder target for other players to reach. Each player can only recruit 1 of each unique Crew card.
Crew cards offer their owners 2 benefits:
- Each Crew card rewards players with an extra action each turn. This is effective immediately once recruited.
- Each Crew card scores players Victory Points at the game's end, equal to what they score for their Captain card.
Crew Cards
The three Crew names are Shepherd, Lookout and Destroyer. Each card shows its player-count requirement (the small number at the top right, where 3+ means it is used from 3 players), its target (bottom left) and its reward (bottom right). Every card gives "Gain 1 additional action each turn".
