Note to Parents

This family edition of Escape Room The Game can be played with children aged 10 and up. When playing the game with children aged 10-14, it is advised that you, as a parent, supervise the game and play along. You could, for instance, help them see the bigger picture, divide tasks and read the hint cards out loud. Most children aged 14 and up should be capable of playing the game unsupervised.

App and Website

Download the app for extra (thematic) background music and to be able to share a picture of your team and your completion time on social media.

Visit the website www.escaperoomthegame.com for FAQ's, the game rules video, and to find the parts that can be reprinted. You can also read through the walkthroughs in order to find out how the adventures could have been solved and to see where you could have found the hidden clues.

Contents

  • Electronic Chrono Decoder
  • Hint Decoder
  • 16 Keys
  • 3×8 Hint Cards
  • The 3 adventures (increasing difficulty level; levels based on age indication 10+):
    • Magic Monkey
    • Snake Bite
    • Moon Portal

Winning

If you have entered 3 correct codes into the Chrono Decoder within 60 minutes, you'll hear 'victory' music and you'll have won the game. Take a picture of your team with the displayed completion time and share it on social media by using the app. If you were unsuccessful in finding all the correct codes within 60 minutes, you will hear the 'defeat' sound and the time will start to count up. You can still proceed to find the code(s). The decoder work the same way as it did before, but without the final 'victory' music. Don't forget to switch off the Chrono Decoder when you've finished.

Were you unsuccessful and are you curious about how you could have solved the adventure and which clues you missed? Then visit the website WWW.ESCAPEROOMTHEGAME.COM, select the appropriate adventure and download the walkthrough.

If other people also want to play the game, you can easily reprint all the 'used' parts that have the print icon on them and replace them in the appropriate envelope.

Important Tips: If You're Stuck in the Game

You will become frustrated, but that is part of the experience of an Escape Room. Once again go through all of the steps with your teammates to see whether you have made a logical error somewhere. Keep the following tips at hand and read them out loud when you're stuck:

COMMUNICATE! Stay positive and listen to each other. Share all information. Think aloud. Take notes. Double-check each other. Summarize. Again ... and again.

READ! All information in the game is important. There are no clues in the envelope text, but the text is important to get a general overview. Read roadmaps and hint cards carefully and completely. Read everything again ... and again.

LOOK! Nothing left in the envelope? Study both the front and back side of all the items again and compare all of your notes. Check the details on the keys again. Are the keys in the correct order in the Chrono Decoder? And are the correct sides facing forward?

SAVE TIME! Read the rules out loud before playing. Use helpful devices on your smartphone like the flashlight, calculator, etc. You also don't have to have any prior knowledge because all the necessary info can be found within the game itself. Divide tasks. Don't break anything unless you find a print symbol on it. Use the ciphers on the Chrono Decoder only when indicated by 'ER'.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, NEVER GIVE UP! THE ANSWERS ARE LITERALLY IN FRONT OF YOU!
