Pantheon Rules

The Deity Cards

Pantheon features a new type of card: the Deity card. These cards represent twelve of the deities of the world of Epic. There are 4 Elder Gods, 4 Gods, and 4 Demigods in the set. They bring a whole new way to play!

When using a Deity card, it begins the game on the table near your deck. Your Deity card can't be broken, banished, put in your hand, or otherwise removed from the table.

You can use the suggested decklists on the back of the rules sheet, or play any Epic format using only cards of your Deity's alignment(s).

Elder Gods and Elder Goddesses

Elder Gods are the highest order of deity in the world of Epic. They are designed to face against another Elder God, or against a team of a God and a Demigod, or against a team of three Demigods. When facing a team, the team uses the "Hydra" rules (see the Epic Rulebook or EpicCardGame.com/pantheon), and the Elder God always goes first.

Elder God Rules

  • You begin the game with 90 health and a six-card hand. You have an eight-card maximum hand size.
  • At the start of your turn: Draw an extra card and gain an extra gold.
  • At the start of the next player's turn: You can [gain] an extra gold.

Transcriber note: the source line reads "You can an extra gold." The word "gain" is missing in the post. The official publisher blog says each Elder God "gain[s] an extra gold on each player's turn", so "[gain]" is supplied from that text.

Gods and Goddesses

Gods are the middle order of deity in the world of Epic. They are designed to face against another God, or against two Demigods. When facing a team, the team uses the "Hydra" rules, and the God always goes first.

God Rules

  • You begin the game with 45 health.
  • At the start of your turn: You gain an extra gold. You may then draw an extra card. If you do, banish a card from your hand.
  • At the end of your turn: You may spend gold. If you do, gain gold at the start of the next player's turn.

Demigods and Demigoddesses

Demigods are the lowest order of deity in the world of Epic. They are designed to face against another Demigod. Other than the ability listed on the Demigod card, they have no special rules. You start with 30 health, as normal. These cards are the perfect way to introduce the Deity cards to newer players.

New Ways to Play

Deity Random 30 – Give each player a random Deity of the same order (Elder God, God, or Demigod). Then each player gets 30 random cards of that Deity's alignment(s). Shuffle and play!

Deity Constructed – Build a constructed deck to take advantage of your favorite Deity's abilities! (They do not count as a card "in your deck" for deck construction.)

Deity Draft – Draft using your favorite draft format, then after the draft is complete, draft the deity cards! Just make sure the Deities are all of the same order for a fair game.

More details about game formats are at EpicCardGame.com/formats.

Furios and Maligus: Deity Card Text

Each card's text is transcribed from the card's printed text in the BGG photo of the pack.

Furios, Father of Nature (Elder God, Deity card)

  • At the start of your turn → Either gain 10 health, or deal 6 damage to a target.

Maligus, the Dark One (Elder God, Deity card)

  • At the start of your turn → Either return target champion to its owner's hand and that player discards a card, or put two zombie tokens into play and gain 4 health.

Furios and Maligus: Pack Cards

Scrap Golem (Sage Construct Champion, 1 gold, 6 attack, 6 health)

  • Loyalty 2 → Blitz
  • [ability icon], Banish a card from your discard pile: Put a scrap token into play.
  • [1 gold icon] Recall

Transcriber note: the [ability icon] is the printed icon before "Banish" and is not spelled out in the sources. The Scrap Golem card photo shows it as a small square symbol. The base Epic Card Game rulebook defines the printed icons.

Evil Zombie Token Champion (token, 2 attack, 2 health)

  • No printed rules text. Flavour: "Maligus did promise them life after death."

Gaps in the Source

  • Scrap Tokens. The publisher blog says Scrap Tokens are generated only by Scrap Golem and by the Deity cards, and every Deity has a propagating Scrap Token on its back. The printed rules text for Scrap Tokens is not in the sources used for this rulebook, so it is not transcribed here.
  • The Will of the Gods. The publisher blog says each Pantheon pack contains one God's Will. The Will card for this pack is not identified or transcribed here, because the sources do not give its text.
  • Size Matters cards. The publisher blog describes Size Matters as card text only. No rules text for those cards is in the sources, so none is transcribed here.
