Important

The rules for Elfenland remain valid. Any additions and changes to these rules are detailed below.

Favor Tiles

Each Favor Tile shows one favor. A player who reaches a town with a Favor Tile can use its favor as described below.

  • Draw 2 Travel Cards: Draw 2 Travel Cards from the pile and take them in hand. You can use them immediately after this point.
  • Draw 1 Travel Card for the next round: Draw 1 Travel Card from the pile and place it in front of you face-down. In the next round, take it in hand in addition to the eight other travel cards at the end of phase 1: Deal The Travel Cards.
  • Take 2 Transportation Counters: Take 2 Transportation Counters from the face-down pile and look at them. You may place one of them on a road according to the usual rules immediately. Shuffle unused Transportation Counters back into the pile.
  • Take 1 extra Transportation Counter: Take 1 Transportation Counter from the face-down pile and put it on the table face-down, separately from your other Transportation Counters. This is an additional Transportation Counter you get to carry over to the next round. In the next round, you have access to up to 6 Transportation Counters you may use.
  • Take 1 Obstacle: Take 1 Obstacle from the common pool and put it down in front of you. Starting with the next round, you may use it according to the usual rules.
  • Take 1 "Free Path" Tile: Take 1 "Free Path" Tile from the common pool and put it down in front of you. From this point forward, you can use this tile once in order to ignore an obstacle on any road during your turn. When you've used the tile, put it back in the common pool. The obstacle remains on the road until the end of the round.

Variant 1 – Small Favors

Setup

Shuffle the 20 Favor Tiles and randomly place them on the towns on the game board. Each town gets one face-up Favor Tile, except for the Elf Capital Elvenhold, which remains empty.

Get the Obstacles and the "Free Path" Tiles ready next to the game board.

Playing the Game

Immediately before you start your movement in phase 5: Move The Elf Boots, you may use the favor of the place your elf boots are currently in.

Note: Elvenhold does not grant any favors. If you start your movement in Elvenhold (e.g. in the first round), you cannot use a favor.

Variant 2 – Great Favors

Setup

Shuffle the 20 Favor Tiles and randomly place them on the towns on the game board. Each town gets one face-down Favor Tile, except for the Elf Capital Elvenhold, which remains empty.

Get the Obstacles and the "Free Path" Tiles ready next to the game board.

Playing the Game

Each time you reach a town during phase 5: Move The Elf Boots and collect the Town Piece, you may use this town's favor immediately.

Note: Turn over any Favor Tiles when you use them for the first time. They remain on the game board face-up for the remainder of the game and can subsequently be used by all players.
