What happens when an investigator is defeated or devoured?

Doom advances by 1, and your token is laid on its side on the nearest City space with a Health or Sanity token showing how you were defeated. You keep your possessions but lose Conditions, Health, Sanity and Improvement tokens, and pass the Lead Investigator token if you had it. A new investigator is chosen at the end of the Mythos Phase. A devoured investigator also advances Doom but loses everything and the token is removed.
