If Kate Winthrop cancels a Gate spawn, does the Render of the Veils Epic Monster still spawn on that space?

Question

Accepted Answer

The Gate is discarded, but the Epic Monster still spawns on that space. Repliers read the rumor's monster spawn as independent of the Gate spawn. No official ruling was given, and one reply found 'that space' ill-defined.
