Does the card taking one Caballero from each player include one of my own, and may they come from different regions?

In the current rulebook, yes: it returns one Caballero from each player, you included. Older English and German wording only hit fellow players, and replies called the English version a translation error. The Caballeros may come from different regions, one per player, as long as none is in the King's region.
