- 1 air blower (volcano)
- 1 fire ball
- 1 game board, divided into 6 sectors
- 6 dividers
- 2 obstacles (the gate arch and the dragon's eye)
- 4 dragon cards in different colours
- 24 tokens showing dragon fruits
The air blower (volcano) has the following parts:
- a: storage place for the fire ball
- b: switch — 0 = off; I = continuous operation; II = operating time 40 seconds
- c: start button
The device runs on 4 × 1.5 V AA/LR6 batteries, or on rechargeable batteries of a similar type.
Before the First Game
- Insert 4 × 1.5 V batteries of type AA/LR6 (or rechargeable batteries of a similar type) into the air blower. This must be done by an adult. To insert the batteries, open the battery compartment cover on the back of the air blower with a screwdriver.
- Remove the adhesive tape from the air blower and free the fire ball from the adhesive tape. Take the ball out of its recess.
- After the game, the fire ball goes back into the recess.
- Place the air blower in the plastic insert. The crater of the volcano is the centre of the game board.
- Punch the dividers, obstacles, dragon-fruit tokens and dragon cards out of the cardboard.
- To make the holes in the game board, punch out the stamped piece on the board. It is no longer needed.
Setup
- Place the game board over the plastic insert with the air blower. Make sure the slots of the game board line up with the recesses in the plastic insert. The crater of the volcano now rises above the game board.
- Insert the dividers and obstacles into the slots intended for them. Pay attention to the matching symbols (circle, square, triangle, star, cross).
- Each player chooses one coloured dragon card and the matching dragon-fruit tokens. If fewer than four players are taking part, return the unused cards and tokens to the box.
- Distribute the dragon-fruit tokens, picture side up, across the different sectors of the game board. In each sector, each player places one dragon-fruit token of his own colour. Two sectors of the board are additionally divided by obstacles. Since tokens lying behind an obstacle are harder to "blow" than those in front of it, the players may agree that more experienced players place their tokens behind the obstacles.
- Place the game board in the middle of the table so that all players have good access to it.
Goal of the Game
The first player to collect six dragon-fruit tokens of his own colour and place them on his dragon card wins the game.
Let's Start!
The youngest participant begins the game. Play then continues clockwise. Before the game starts, set the switch on the air blower from 0 to I. As soon as the start button is pressed, the air blower begins to blow air.
Blowing
The player places the fire ball on the air flow of the air blower so that the ball hovers above the crater of the volcano. The player now tries to carefully blow on the fire ball in the direction of one of the sectors of the game board in which there is a dragon-fruit token of his colour.
Attention: a player has only one attempt per turn.
Tip: The ball holds steadily on the air flow. The game board may therefore be turned freely left or right to take up the most favourable position, so the player does not need to run around the table.
Note: The fire ball must stay lying on the board. This does not happen if the fire ball is blown over the edge of the box, or if it first lands on the board and then jumps over the edge of the box.
Collecting Dragon Fruits
- If the fire ball lands in the sector where the player's token is, the player takes that token and places it on his dragon card. The next player then takes his turn.
- If the fire ball lands in a sector where there is no token of this player, the player goes home empty-handed. The next player then takes his turn.
Obstacles
Obstacles are a special challenge! To collect the desired dragon fruits from a sector divided by an obstacle, the player must blow the fire ball into the area in front of the obstacle or behind it, accordingly. If a dragon-fruit token of the player's colour lies there, the player takes it.
Tip: If the game with obstacles proves too difficult for the players, the obstacles are simply removed from the game board and the game is played without them.
End of the Game
The winner is the player who first collects six dragon-fruit tokens of his own colour and places them on his dragon card.
Note: After 20 minutes of continuous operation, the air blower switches off automatically. To activate it again, press the button.
Variant: Professionals Play for Memory and Time
In this variant the game is played against the clock, because the air blower switches off automatically after 40 seconds of operation. Who manages to collect as many of his fruits as possible within this time, end his turn in time, and so secure the necessary dragon-fruit tokens?
Setup (Variant)
In this variant, all dragon-fruit tokens are turned picture side down and mixed. If fewer than four players are taking part, the unused tokens and cards are removed from the game. Then place four tokens, picture side down, on each sector of the game board. On the sectors divided by obstacles, the tokens are placed as follows: two in front of the obstacle and two behind it.
Let's Start! (Variant)
Set the switch on the air blower from position 0 to position II. As soon as the start button is pressed, the air blower begins to blow air.
Blowing (Variant)
The player places the fire ball on the air flow of the air blower so that the ball hovers above the crater of the volcano. The player then tries to carefully blow on the fire ball in the direction of one of the sectors in which a token of his colour is presumably located.
Searching for Dragon Fruits
If the fire ball remains lying on the board, the player turns over one of the tokens which, as he thinks, hides a dragon fruit of his colour, picture side up.
Regardless of whether the player has guessed correctly or not:
- The token stays lying picture side up.
- The player must decide whether to continue blowing on the fire ball in search of dragon fruits of his colour, or to end his turn.
- If the player has not yet found a single token of his colour, it makes sense to continue.
- If the player has turned over a token and it turns out to be of his colour, he must consider that this token will be his only if he ends his turn in time, that is, before the air blower stops blowing air.
Ending the Turn and Collecting Fruits
The player ends his turn by calling out "Stop" or "I'm finished."
- The player ends his turn in time: he takes all of his face-up tokens from the game board and places them on his dragon card. All other face-up tokens are turned picture side down again. The next player then takes his turn.
- The player ends his turn too late: in this case the player gets nothing. All tokens are turned picture side down again, and the next player takes his turn.
End of the Game (Variant)
The winner is the player who first collects six dragon-fruit tokens of his own colour and places them on his dragon card.
General Information on Using the Game
Using the Batteries
Dragi Drache runs on 4 × 1.5 V batteries of type AA/LR6. Batteries must be installed and replaced by adults. The compartment is on the back of the air blower. Open the cover of the compartment with a Phillips (cross-head) screwdriver. Insert the batteries, observing the polarity, then close and secure the cover again.
Safety Rules
- Ordinary (non-rechargeable) batteries must not be recharged!
- Rechargeable batteries may be recharged only under adult supervision!
- Before recharging, rechargeable batteries are removed from the toy!
- Insert batteries observing the polarity!
- If batteries are discharged, or if the toy is not used for a long time, the batteries must be removed!
- Do not short-circuit the terminals!
- It is recommended to use alkaline batteries.
- Use only batteries of the specified type or an equivalent type.
- All batteries must be replaced at the same time.
- Do not use batteries of different types, and do not mix new and old batteries!
Care Tips
- To clean the surface, use a dry or slightly damp cloth, without cleaning agents.
- Protect the air blower from direct sunlight and do not place it near other sources of heat.
- Protect the game from moisture.
- The air blower must not be taken apart.
- After the game has ended, switch the air blower off (position 0).
First Aid for Problems
If the air blower does not work properly, try the following:
- Check that the air blower is switched on correctly.
- Check that the batteries are installed correctly.
- Install new batteries.
- Switch the air blower off for a few seconds.
- If the problem is not solved, remove the batteries from the device for a few minutes, then try again.
Do not dispose of the electrical parts of the toy in household waste. Take them to a designated collection point in your area. Ask your local waste authority where the collection point for old appliances is.
