The Aim of the Game
Get rid of all your cards by collecting pairs and passing wisely… and, most importantly, don't be a DIK DIK!
Winning and Losing
If you end the game with the DIK DIK card, tough luck, you're a DIK DIK! You lose!
If you get rid of all your cards or survive DIK DIK roulette, congratulations, you're not a DIK DIK. You win! Feel free to mock the DIK DIK.
Players: 3–6. Age 16+.
OK, let's play…
Set-Up
- Shuffle the cards and deal them all out between the players. There are 24 matching pairs and 1 solitary DIK DIK card. All cards must be used.
- Each player checks their hand. If anyone has any pairs they shout them out loud and proud, then place the pairs face up on the table for all to see.
Example call-out: "I've got a pair of NIPPLEWORTS!"
How to Play
- The player who looks most like a DIK DIK goes first, asking any other player for a specific card they need to make a pair.
Example question: "Jon, do you have a STICKY WILLY?"
- If the other player has the card, they must hand it over. The player who asked for the card sets down their new pair, exclaiming, "I've got a pair of STICKY WILLIES!" They then ask for another card they need from a player of their choice. They don't have to ask the same player.
Example question: "Lucy, do you have a BEARDED TIT?"
- This continues until a player doesn't have the card they are asked for. The asking player ends their turn by choosing a card from their own hand and passing it, unseen, to the player on their left. They may pass on any card – including the DIK DIK!
- Play then moves to the left, with the next player asking other players for cards to complete pairs, and then ending their turn by passing a card to their left.
If a Player Has Only One Card…
- On someone else's turn: They must hold on to their solitary card until it's their turn again.
- On their turn: They must pass the solitary card to their left immediately without asking for a card first, even if it's the DIK DIK card. They are then out of the game and can breathe a sigh of relief. Phew! They're not a DIK DIK!
When There Are Only Three Cards Left in Play…
- If you're the player with only one card and you're holding the DIK DIK, you really are a DIK DIK. You lose!
- If the player holding two cards has the DIK DIK card, it's time for DIK DIK roulette!
DIK DIK Roulette
- The player with only one card in their hand must take one of the other player's two cards at random.
- If the drawing player makes a pair, they win. If they draw the DIK DIK, they lose!
- The player now holding the DIK DIK card must announce, "I'm a DIK DIK", simultaneously losing and ending the game.
Closing line: "Good luck… Don't be a DIK DIK!"
