What Is Dobble About?

Dobble 360° consists of 55 cards. Each card shows 8 symbols. No matter which two cards you compare, exactly one symbol matches. Who finds it first?

How It Works

As new players, you can get familiar with Dobble quickly and easily. To do so, turn over two random cards and place them face up in the middle where everyone can see them. Now find, as quickly as possible, the symbol that matches on both cards in both shape and colour. (The size may differ.) Whoever has found the symbol names it, and then turns over two new cards. Repeat this until it is clear that exactly one symbol always matches between two cards. Now the game can begin!

Object of the Game

Dobble offers a range of game variants in which speed matters and everyone is challenged at the same time. The goal is always to be the first to find and loudly name the symbol that matches on two cards. Whoever does this either receives a card or gives one away, depending on the game variant.

Game Variants

You can play the game variants in any order, or focus on just one of them. The main thing is that you have fun!

If you do not know Dobble yet, you can play a few practice rounds before the first real game. In the Dobble 360° variant, you try to find the matching symbol while the card holder, the Dobble tower, spins!

Who Was Faster?

Whoever names the matching symbol first wins. If several players were equally fast, the winner is the one who took or placed the card first, depending on the game variant.

A Tie?

If at the end of a game two players are tied, a duel takes place. Both draw one card and turn it over at the same time. Whoever names the matching symbol first wins. If more than two players are tied, the winner is decided by a deciding round in the "Hot Potato" variant (Variant 4).

Variant 1: Dobble 360°

Setup

  • Set the switch to 1 to play Dobble 360° at a slow pace. Set it to 2 to play at a fast pace.
  • Press the Dobble tower lightly to activate or deactivate it.
  • Divide the cards as evenly as possible into two stacks. Insert the stacks into the two card slots of the Dobble tower so that the symbols can be seen.

Object of the Game

  • Collect the most cards.

How to Play

  • Once the game starts, all players must find the matching symbol that appears on both cards.
  • As soon as someone has found it, they name it. Then they take both cards (at the same time, carefully, without stopping the Dobble tower) and place them in front of themselves.
  • In case of a mistake, they set the cards aside.
  • Then continue playing with the two new face-up cards.

End of the Game

  • The game ends when one of the stacks is empty. Whoever has the most cards wins.

Variant 2: The Tower

Setup

  • Each player receives one face-down card.
  • Place the remaining cards in the middle as a face-up stack.

Object of the Game

  • Collect the most cards.

How to Play

  • All players turn over their card at the same time.
  • Then each player compares their card with the top card in the middle.
  • As soon as someone has found the matching symbol, they name it and place the card from the middle face-up on their own card, so that a stack forms. This is their "tower". The top card of this stack is their current comparison card.
  • Play continues until there are no cards left in the middle.

End of the Game

  • Whoever has collected the most cards wins.

Variant 3: The Well

Setup

  • Place one card face-up in the middle.
  • Deal the remaining cards face-down to all players as evenly as possible. Each player forms their own face-down stack from the cards they were dealt.

Object of the Game

  • Be the first to get rid of all your own cards.

How to Play

  • All players turn over their stack at the same time.
  • Then each player compares the top card of their stack with the face-up card in the middle.
  • As soon as someone has found the matching symbol, they name it and place their card on the card in the middle. This is now the new comparison card.
  • Play continues until someone has no cards left.

End of the Game

  • Whoever is the first to have no cards left wins.

Variant 4: Hot Potato

A game consists of several rounds.

Setup

  • In each round, each player receives one face-down card.
  • Set the remaining cards aside for the next rounds.
  • Agree on how many rounds you will play (at least 5).

Object of the Game

  • After the last round, have the fewest cards in front of you. In other words, try to get rid of your card in every round.

How to Play

  • All players place their card face-down on their palm and turn it over at the same time.
  • Whoever is the first to find a symbol that matches between their card and the card of another player names it and places their card on that player's card.
  • If someone has several cards in hand, they place all of them on the other player's card.
  • The top card is always the current comparison card.
  • Play continues until a single player has all the cards in hand. That player lays them down in front of themselves.
  • Then a new round begins.

End of the Game

  • Whoever has the fewest cards in front of them after the last round wins.

Variant 5: The Poisoned Gift

Setup

  • Each player receives one face-down card.
  • Place the remaining cards in the middle as a face-up stack.

Object of the Game

  • Have the fewest cards at the end.

How to Play

  • All players turn over their card at the same time.
  • As soon as someone has found a symbol that matches between the top card in the middle and the card of another player, they name it and then place the card from the middle on that player's card. This is their "poisoned gift".
  • The new top card in the middle is now the comparison card.
  • Play continues until there are no cards left in the middle.

End of the Game

  • Whoever has the fewest cards at the end wins.
