1 game box (= rock for the dinosaurs to jump off), 4 wooden game markers, 52 dinosaur playing cards in five different sizes: 4x T-rex (purple), 8x spinosaurus (red), 8x dilophosaurus (blue), 16x velociraptor (yellow), 16x archaeopteryx (green), 1 set of instructions
Preparation
Take the game material out of the box and then close it again. The box serves as the rock that the dinosaurs jump off to go hunting.
Spread the 16 archaeopteryx cards (green) out in the center of the table. This is the jungle that your dinosaurs want to go hunting in. The archaeopteryx cards should not be touching each other or lie on top of one another.
Then each player takes one game marker and a set of cards with the following dinosaur playing cards: 1 T-rex (purple), 2 spinosaurus (red), 2 dilophosaurus (blue), 4 velociraptors (yellow).
Place these cards in front of you, next to your game marker. You can use these cards to go hunting. Extra playing cards are put aside.
How to play
Play in a clockwise direction. The player who can best roar like a T-rex may start.
Take the game box and place it upright in front of you. One of the narrow sides of the box should face you, not the top cover. There must be one hand width distance between the box and the dinosaur cards in the jungle.
Then select one of the dinosaurs in your set of cards, which you want to send hunting from the jumping rock. Place the dinosaur playing card on the top edge of the box and push it toward the dinosaurs in the jungle.
Where does the card land?
- Your dinosaur caught some prey: Did your card land on one or more other cards? Great! You may take all dinosaurs that are underneath your dinosaur AND are smaller than the dinosaur you are using to hunt with: place one finger on your dinosaur playing card and carefully pull out the captured card(s). The card(s) you captured are placed underneath your game marker. All other dinosaurs remain on the table. This includes the dinosaur that you just sent out hunting; it remains where it is in the jungle.
- Your spinosaurus is lying on an archaeopteryx: prey.
- Your spinosaurus is lying on a T-rex: not prey.
- Your spinosaurus touches this archaeopteryx, but isn't lying on it: not prey.
- Your dinosaur landed off to the side: Your card landed on the table, but not on one of the other cards? Unfortunately you didn't capture anything. The dinosaur that you went hunting with stays on the table in the jungle.
- Your dinosaur jumped too far: Oh no. You pushed a little too hard and your card fell off the table? Unfortunately this card is now out of the game.
Tip: Each dinosaur playing card shows colored symbols next to the dinosaur. They show which other dinosaurs are smaller, and are therefore prey for this dinosaur. For example, the T-rex can eat: spinosaurus (red), dilophosaurus (blue), velociraptor (yellow), archaeopteryx (green).
Then the next player takes their turn.
Warning: Cards collected on your hunt remain under your game marker. You may not send these dinosaurs out to hunt!
End of the game
The game ends when you have sent all your dinosaurs out to hunt. Now everybody counts how many dinosaurs are collected under their game marker. Each dinosaur, regardless of its size, counts as one point.
The player with the most points wins the game, and may roar like a victorious dinosaur. If two (or more) players have the same number of points it is a tie.
