  1. 4 playing boards (Legetafeln)
  2. 36 cards (Kärtchen)
  3. 1 control sheet (Kontrollfolie)

The playing boards and cards are printed on both sides. The front sides of the playing boards have a striped border and a small mouse in the bottom right corner. If you play Differix in a group, you must first agree together whether everyone plays with the motifs on the fronts or the motifs on the backs.

Game Idea 1 (Spielidee 1): Matching Game for 1 Child Aged 4 and Up

The goal of the game is to compare motifs, tell them apart and match them.

Preparation

Choose a playing board together with its matching nine cards. Shuffle the cards and place them in a face-down pile next to the playing board.

How to Play

Let's go! Turn over the top card. Where is this picture on your playing board? Pay close attention: there is always only one picture that is exactly the same. Once you have found it, place the card on it. Keep playing until all the cards lie on your playing board.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as all the cards lie on the playing board. Use the control sheet to check whether you did everything correctly.

On the control sheet you see an oval control field. This control field is also on your playing board. Lay the sheet on the board so that the two oval control fields lie on top of each other. All the cards are marked with triangles, semicircles and rectangles. If the markings on the cards match the markings on the sheet, you have done everything right.

Group Play

To play the game as a group, the players first agree whether they all want to play with the fronts or the backs of the playing boards. The fronts are recognisable by the striped border and the small mouse in the corner. Each child now chooses a playing board and the matching cards.

Timed Play (Spiel auf Zeit)

It is also possible to play against the clock. Here too, all players can use either the fronts or the backs of the playing boards. Everyone places their cards at the same time. The game ends as soon as one child has all the cards on their playing board. Whoever has placed the most correct cards by then wins the game.

Game Idea 2 (Spielidee 2): Memory Game for 2 to 4 Children Aged 4 and Up

The goal of the game is to find your own motifs, compare them and match them correctly.

Preparation

First agree whether you will play with the motifs on the fronts or the motifs on the backs of the playing boards. Each player takes a playing board and looks for the matching cards. Turn all the cards so that your motif is hidden, and shuffle all the cards in the middle of the table.

How to Play

The youngest player begins. Play then continues clockwise. When it is your turn, turn over one card. Does it belong to your playing board? Then place it on the matching picture. Does it not belong to it? Then turn it face down again. The next player is then up.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as one child has all the cards on their playing board. Whoever has placed the most correct cards then wins the game.

Check with the control sheet whether everything has been matched correctly.

On the control sheet you see an oval control field. This control field is also on your playing board. Lay the sheet on the board so that the two oval control fields lie on top of each other. All the cards are marked with triangles, semicircles and rectangles. If the markings on the cards match the markings on the sheet, you have done everything right.
