Contents

  • 1 large game board
  • 2 small game boards
  • 30 precious stones cards
  • 1 dragon figure
  • 1 dice (2, 3, 3, 4, dragon symbol, dragon symbol)

Preparing to Play

Before playing for the first time, remove all the cards carefully from the punched boards.

  1. Place the two game boards with the printed sides face-up into the box on the black shelf. The small game boards can be positioned in any direction you choose.
  2. Place the large game board in any direction you choose onto the two small game boards. The side with the light start field is easier, whereas the side with the dark start field is somewhat trickier.
  3. Switch the dragon figure on via the switch on the bottom of the figure. Position the dragon on the start field in the middle of the game board.
  4. Shuffle all 30 cards well, and deal each player 2 cards face-down. Each player picks up their cards. The rest of the cards are placed next to the game board as a concealed pile. If a player has two identical cards, they put one of the cards back on the bottom of the pile and pick up a new card.
  5. Give the youngest player the dice, since the youngest player starts the game.

The Shiny Gemstones

Take a good look at the game board before starting the game: there are gemstone fields in six different colours on the game board. Each gemstone field is represented four times. Edgar breathes fire when he is pushed onto certain fields or lands on them.

The Game

When it is your turn, throw the dice.

Have you thrown a 2, 3 or 4?

If so, then move Edgar the precise number of fields in any direction you choose on one field. You always have to push Edgar along the paths and across the other gemstone fields. Edgar must be moved exactly the number of points on the dice. Furthermore, Edgar may not be moved across the same field twice during his move. This means that you have to decide on one direction only. When you move Edgar, you are not allowed to lift him up.

When you throw any of these numbers, Edgar is always pushed across the game board.

Have you thrown a dragon symbol?

Edgar can fly! Now you are allowed to pick Edgar up and place him directly onto any new field you choose.

Edgar breathes fire!

If, at the end of a move, Edgar lands on a field on which he breathes fire, place one of your cards down in front of you if the colour of the gemstone on your card is the same as the colour of the gemstone on the field. You then pick up one new card from the pile and that is the end of your turn. If you have two identical cards in your hand, put one of the cards, face down, back on the bottom of the pile and take a new card. The game then continues in a clockwise direction.

Edgar doesn't breathe fire

Pity. If, at the end of your move, Edgar lands on a field on which he doesn't breathe fire, that is the end of your turn. However, pay good attention to the fields on which Edgar breathes fire, since this will help you next time round. The game then continues in a clockwise direction.

End of the Game

The first player to put down any six cards in front of them wins the game.

Another round!

In order to play another round, remove the game boards from the box and put them back in different positions. The fields on which Edgar breathes fire are now in different places. You can also use the side with the dark start field, making it a bit trickier.
