The aim of the game

The aim of the game is to be the player with the most money at the end of the shift... if you survived the shift!

Each player will start with

  • 1 Taxi
  • 1 Log Book
  • 1 Driving License (four cards together to spell "DESTINATION")
  • 3 Destination Cards (DO NOT SHOW THE OTHER PLAYERS YOUR DESTINATION CARDS)
  • 3 Fuel Vouchers
  • 3 x £50
  • 5 x £20
  • 3 x £10
  • 4 x £5

Sort the cards out into piles and allocate some space at the side of the board to display them during play.

One player is to be nominated as banker. The money can also be kept at the side of the board.

All taxis start at the Taxi Rank/Base.

Start the game with one dice only.

The Player to roll the highest number on the dice will go first and then take turns clockwise.

If you throw a six you may have another turn. Plan your route around the board to get to each of your destinations as quickly as possible.

When you reach each destination you collect the fare stated on the card.

Old cards are no longer needed. DO NOT RETURN DESTINATION CARDS TO THE PILE.

You can then pick up another Destination Card so that you always have at least 3 at any one time.

You must put one Fuel Card back each time you collect a fare.

You do not need the exact number to reach your destination but once you have collected the fare that is the end of your turn.

Fuel cards

Each time you reach a destination you must put one Fuel Card back. You MUST NOT run out of fuel. When you are low on fuel you need to go to the Garage and buy some. The Fuel Cards are £5 each and you cannot have more than 5 at any one time. If you accidentally use your last Fuel Card, you cannot continue with the game unless you buy fuel from another player. The player to your left can sell you a Fuel Card for £50. If that player does not have enough fuel to sell you, then you may ask another player. If no players can sell you fuel you will have to wait until they visit the Garage.

Traffic light cards

If you land on a set of Traffic Lights you must pick up a Traffic Light Card and follow the instructions. You have a 50/50 chance of getting a Nice Card or a Nasty Card.

Driving license cards

If you pick up a Traffic Light Card that says 'CAUGHT SPEEDING' then you must turn over one section of your Driving License to reveal '3 POINTS'. During the game, if you turn over all 4 sections of your license, you have clocked up 12 points and you lose your license. You cannot continue with the game unless you have your license intact.

You can only get your license reinstated if you pay a £200 fine. If you pay this you may turn all sections of your Driving License back over so it's clean. If you cannot pay the £200 fine then you are out of the game.

Log-book cards

If at any point in the game you cannot pay a fine or you run out of money you may take out a Log Book loan for £200 secured against your vehicle. To do this you must turn your Log Book over and collect £200. However, this loan must be repaid and your Log Book turned back over by the end of the game otherwise the Garage will repossess your vehicle and you will automatically be out of the game and you cannot win, even if you are the player with the most money.

Note: If you have already taken out a Log loan and you cannot pay any further fines or debts including fuel, you are automatically out of the game.

Turbo Taxi

You may pay £150 to upgrade your vehicle to a Turbo Taxi. This enables you to use 2 Dice and therefore move to your destinations quicker - if you throw a double you get another turn!

Always watch what other players are doing!

If another player lands on one of your destinations, you may show them your Destination Card and move your taxi straight to that square, knocking their taxi back to the Taxi Rank/Base. As an added penalty, THEY must pay you the fare stated on the card. You must still return one fuel voucher back to the pile.

Note: You do not have to move to that destination if you don't want to - if you are down to your last Fuel Card you may prefer to keep quiet! If you land on the same square as another player at any time of the game you may also knock them back to the Taxi Rank/Base.

End of the game

Once all the Destination Cards have been picked up from the pile it is then a race to visit all your destinations as quickly as possible. When you have no Destination Cards left you must race back to the Taxi Rank/Base. You must throw the EXACT number to enter the Base. The first player to get back to the Base will collect a £250 bonus and will bring the game to an end but did they win??

All players must count their money; the player with the most money wins the game.

Note: Attractions have been positioned on certain roads on the board for the purpose of the game play. This may vary from the actual position of the attraction on a map. Fares have also been vastly exaggerated for the purpose of the game play.

Tips for game play

  • If you land on your own destination and have only one fuel card left then you can keep quiet, the same if your opponent lands on your destination. At the end of the game you must try to avoid landing on the same square as your opponent, or else you will knock them back to the Radio Cabs Base resulting in them claiming the £250 bonus.
  • If a road has arrows on it, this means it is a one way street!
  • If you land on your Destination and there is a traffic light on the same square you must collect your fare before taking the traffic light card.
  • If you do not wish to sell your fuel cards then you are within your rights to refuse.
  • If you have 2 Destination cards on one square you only have to give one fuel card.
  • If one of the Destination cards belongs to your opponent then you would have to collect your fare then pay your opponent for being at their Destination.
  • If you have a nice Traffic cards and it says 'Move to your next destination', and you have only one fuel card left then you can choose when to use it, also you can only move to a Destination on a card and not the petrol station.
  • Fuel Card, this is a bonus card and you are still able to purchase the maximum from the petrol station. Escape the petrol station, then you also escape the fine.
  • Double fare New Year's Eve, this must be used at your next destination and if you are unlucky enough to receive a nasty card saying do not pick up fare then you have to return both cards and collect no fare.

Printed as-is: the Tips section refers to the "Radio Cabs Base", while the rules above it call the same place the Taxi Rank/Base. Both names are kept as printed.
