1. Order of Play

In this game, "gather parts", "build robots", and "battle". The player with the highest point wins.

  • Gather: Take and gather Robot Part tiles in the turn order.
  • Build: Place gathered tiles on the board to build robots.
  • Battle: Make the robots battle. Position player chips on the scoring track according to each player's score.

The player who has gained the highest points from Build and Battle wins.

2. Set Up

When opening the game box, check if all the components are in it.

Components

  • 4 individual boards
  • 1 Battle board
  • 36 nuts
  • 1 timer
  • 4 player pieces for the battle
  • 4 player chips
  • 36 Robot Part tiles
  • 4 Battle board scoring chips

Overview

  • Players: 2-4
  • Playing Time: 30 min
  • Age: 6+

3. Start of the Game

Game flow: Preparation (1 to 4) and "Gather" (5 to 7).

  1. Each player takes their individual board and places it in front of them.
  2. Place the Battle board and timer in the center of the table. Place the Battle board with its side matching the number of players face up according to Player icons. (2-player: 2 player icons / 3- and 4-players: 3 or 4 player icons.)
  3. Place Robot Part tiles in a circle.
  4. Place the Player pieces in front of the smallest tile (2-square long).
  5. Starting from the player who has most recently operated a robot, take turns in clockwise order to take one of the 4 tiles ahead of your piece and move your piece to the space from which you have taken the tile. (If none of the players have operated a robot, determine the start player in whatever way you like.)
  6. Stack the tiles you have taken on your individual board. (You must not check the tiles underneath after stacking them.)
  7. The players take turns to take a tile. After each round of turns, place a nut on a Nut Spot on the Battle board. Repeat this procedure until 9 nuts are placed (9 rounds). Now, the players have taken 9 tiles each and stacked these tiles on their individual boards.
  8. After taking the tiles, put the remaining tiles back into the box and move the player pieces to the Battle board.

4. Building Robots

Start building robots at the shout of "3, 2, 1, GO!" (Or you may shout in whatever way you like.)

  • Press the timer's "MIN" button to set it to "1 min" and place it in the center of the table. (Timer setting 1 min. After getting used to the gameplay, try the game with a shorter timer setting (such as 10 sec).)
  • Arrange the Robot Piece tiles you gathered in Step 3 within the frame of your individual board to build your robot. (This will be your robot and the program to determine your robot's movement.)
  • The first player to have built a robot (arranged their tiles) presses the timer's "START" button. When the timer's alarm rings, all the players must stop building their robots.

5. Rating Robots

Rate the built robots.

  • The players gain points for them. The number of squares occupied by the tiles count as the score. (1 pt per square. 31 pt on the left figure.)
  • In the poor-tech Hebocon, High-Tech Penalty is applied to players who demonstrate overly high technical capabilities. (official rules) If a player fills up all the (36) squares, their score is reduced to 28 pt due to the High-Tech Penalty.
  • Position player chips on the scoring track according to each player's score.

6. Battle

After building the robots, make them battle.

6-1. Preparation for the Battle

  • Place the player pieces at their starting positions on the Battle board and place the scoring chips (four +2 chips) on the scoring spots (with the "+2" side face up).
  • The color of your robot is indicated on your individual board. (Check the matching color and icon.)
  • Place the player pieces on the starting position to start the battle.
  • Operate your robot by placing nuts on tiles on your individual board.
  • Take actions in clockwise order starting from the player who pressed the timer button in "4 Building Robots".

Now, it's time for the battle of Heboi robots!

Scoring spots on the Battle board:

  • +2: Provides points only once when a player of the matching color enters this spot. (Flip the tile face down after its use.)
  • -2: A loss of -2 pt is applied if entering this spot.

6-2. Robot Battle/Actions

  • Place a nut on a tile's Nut Spot and take the action indicated on the tile (such as moving in the direction of the arrow).
  • On tiles with blue Nut Spots, you can place nuts on up to 2 tiles at a turn.
  • On tiles with brown Nut Spots, you can only place a nut on 1 tile at a turn.
  • You must place a nut and take an action so long as you have tiles with unoccupied Nut Spots. (You cannot pass your turn.)
  • Move the player chips on the scoring track according to their scores.

Each tile's function:

  • Arrow: Move your robot to the pointed direction.
  • +pt (e.g. +3 PT): Add points. (The robot threatens others by emitting light, smoke, etc.)
  • Turn: Turn your individual board. (Turn the board to the direction of the arrow. Each arrow indicates a 90-degree turn.)

If there is any other player in your moving direction, push them out (in your moving direction). (+2 pt gained for pushing them out of the Battle board.)

The player who has fallen from the Battle board becomes unable to take an action. (A loss of -2 pt is applied regardless of whether the player has been pushed out or has fallen themselves.)

7. Ending the Game

Final Result.

The battle ends when all but 1 robot has fallen from the Battle board or when all the players have run out of Nut Spots to place nuts on their individual boards. The remaining players gain points according to the following table.

No. of players with robots on the Battle boardEach remaining player receives
1 player8 pt
2 player3 pt
3 player2 pt
4 player0 pt

The player with the highest score in total wins.
