Game Contents

  • 108 cards: 27 cards in each of 4 different colors, numbered 1 to 13. Some cards show a time symbol (sun and moon); the others show 1 to 4 stars.
  • 1 time card, for indicating day and night (sun side and moon side).
  • 1 rules sheet.

Object of the Game

The goal is to have collected the most stars by the end of the game, by correctly judging the winning color in each round and playing the matching cards.

Setup

  1. Place the time card, sun side up, in the middle of the table.

  2. Shuffle the 108 cards well. Depending on the number of players, remove the following cards from the game unseen and return them to the box:

    • with 3 players: 33 cards
    • with 4 players: 16 cards
    • with 5 players: 3 cards

The remaining cards form the face-down draw pile, which is placed next to the time card in the middle of the table.

  3. Each player takes 7 cards into hand, face down.

Game Flow

The game is played in rounds until the draw pile is used up. Each round follows the same sequence:

  1. Reveal a card from the pile
  2. Play cards (2x)
  3. Determine the winning color
  4. Collect winning cards
  5. Clean up and draw cards

1. Reveal a Card from the Pile

A player draws the top card of the draw pile and places it face up next to the time card.

Attention: if the revealed card shows the time symbol, the time card must be turned over immediately!

2. Play Cards (2x)

Each player places one card from their hand face down in front of them. When everyone is ready, all players reveal their card at the same time.

If a card shows the time symbol, the time card is turned over (if several played cards show the time symbol, the time card is turned over that many times!).

This action is repeated a second time. The previously played cards remain face up on the table.

3. Determine the Winning Color

Once all players have played two cards, the winning color is determined. This depends on the time of day and applies to all revealed cards:

  • Day: If the time card shows the sun, the winning color is the color whose card values form the highest total (including the card revealed from the pile!).
  • Night: If the time card shows the moon, the winning color is the color whose card values form the lowest total (including the card revealed from the pile!).

If the highest (or lowest) total is tied, there is no winning color. The round ends immediately and play continues with step 5.

4. Collect Winning Cards

Each player who has played at least one card in the winning color may now take any one face-up card from the table. Stars on a card count as victory points.

The chosen card is placed face up in front of the player who took it.

Taking a card follows a set order: the player who played the card with the highest value during the day, or the card with the lowest value at night, in the winning color, may choose first. Then follows the player with the second-highest or second-lowest card value, and so on.

Note: If a player played both cards in the "winning color," the values of both cards are added together.

In case of a tie, the player who currently has fewer stars on their already collected cards may choose a card first. If there is still a tie, neither of the two players receives a card.

Note: If there is no longer a card with a star on the table, the relevant player must still choose a card. This can be decisive for the victory (see "End of the Game")!

5. Clean Up and Draw Cards

All cards still face up on the table go onto a common discard pile. Each player draws two cards from the draw pile.

The time card remains where it is. The next round is then started as described, beginning with step 1.

End of the Game

Once all cards have been drawn from the draw pile, one last round is played. After that, the game ends. Each player adds up the stars on their collected cards. The player with the most stars wins.

In case of a tie, the player who has collected more cards wins. If there is still a tie, there are several winners.

Example

The example in the rules, with players Ursula, Matthias and Irene (the cards shown in the illustration are not transcribed):

Day: If the time card shows the sun, orange is the winning color (total = 21). Matthias, with the highest card value, may choose a card first, followed by Ursula.

Night: If the time card shows the moon, blue is the winning color (total = 6). Only Irene may choose a card.
