How does the number of players change the Diary Sections and red bookmarkers?

On the 4-player board a red bookmark splits each larger Diary into two sections; in 2- and 3-player games the two pages of a Diary are one section. The Small Diary is always a single section. The placement penalty is 3 Coins in 2-player and 2 Coins in 3- or 4-player games.
