If an Exploration action gives me a further Exploration action, do I finish the first one before using the second?
One player's reading; the rulebook's any-order rule for rewards does not mention splitting a move.

Yes. Complete the original movement, including any Extra Stop, before starting an extra Exploration action it earned. Rewards and bonus actions you gain can be taken in any order, but the move already in progress is not split.
