Card Descriptions
Phrase cards. Double-sided cards. Each side has one phrase to guess and a Bomb (forbidden word) in a special frame. Phrase cards are divided into 4 categories:
- ALE COO? (blue cards)
- COOLTURA (orange cards)
- SPORT (green cards)
- ŻYCIE CODZIENNE (everyday life, pink cards)
Game Mode cards. These change the way the phrases to be guessed are presented. They are used only in the Extended Variant.
Goal of the Game
Your task is to guess as many phrases as possible during a single round. The player who collects the largest number of Phrase cards by the end of the game wins!
Game Rules (Basic Variant)
The rules below are for the BASIC VARIANT. Changes in the EXTENDED VARIANT are described later in this rulebook. In either variant you may also use the additional Bomb rule described at the end of this rulebook.
Before playing, decide together which category you will play. Take all the Phrase cards from that category, shuffle them, and place them face down in a single stack in the middle of the table. Put all remaining cards back in the box.
The person with the highest forehead (najwyższe czoło, a pun on the game's name) becomes the first active player. After finishing their turn, the active player passes to the next person clockwise.
The game ends after the last player has taken a turn. The player with the largest number of guessed phrases wins.
Active Player's Turn
-
Take five cards from the top of the stack in such a way that you do not see their bottom side.
-
Open the special timer in the Czółko app, or prepare a stopwatch for 30 seconds.
-
Place the first card on your forehead (do not look at the phrase!) and start the countdown.
-
During the 30 seconds, the other players' task is to steer you towards the phrase on the card. You have an unlimited number of attempts to guess the phrase.
Important! The other players may not say any part of the phrase or the Bomb. They also may not inflect these words, use words that sound the same, or say them in other languages. If this condition is broken, immediately set that card aside.
-
If you guess the phrase within the allotted time, which the other players will signal, place the card in front of you. Otherwise, set it aside.
-
If you still have phrases left to guess, immediately place the next one on your forehead. Start the timer for another 30 seconds and try to guess the phrase with the help of the other players. Otherwise, your turn ends.
Extended Variant
In this variant all the rules above apply with some changes. The time to guess a phrase in the Extended Variant is 1 minute and 15 seconds, and the GAME MODE cards are included in the game.
Before playing, after choosing the category, shuffle all the Game Mode cards and place them face down in a stack next to the Phrase card stack.
At the start of each player's turn, in any order, all players except the active player each draw 1 card from the top of the Game Mode card stack without revealing it to the others. This card defines a new rule that applies to that player during this turn. Each player must follow their own rule while presenting the phrase to the active player. After the turn ends, shuffle all Game Mode cards back into the deck. Before the next turn begins, everyone again draws 1 card each.
Note! The "One Word at a Time" mode is an exceptional card whose rule applies to all players. More on this mode in its description below.
Detailed Description of Game Mode Cards
PANTOMIME (Pokazywanie): You convey information only by means of gestures and movements. You may not speak or make any sounds.
SEATED PANTOMIME (Pokazywanie na siedząco): As with ordinary Pantomime, but you may not stand up from your chair / sofa.
PANTOMIME WITH HAND ON HEAD (Pokazywanie z dłonią na głowie): As with ordinary Pantomime, but you additionally keep one hand on your head.
PANTOMIME WITH HANDS JOINED (Pokazywanie ze złączonymi dłońmi): As with ordinary Pantomime, but you additionally keep your hands joined together.
PANTOMIME FROM BEHIND (Pokazywanie tyłem): As with ordinary Pantomime, but you additionally must be turned with your back to the active player.
TELLING (Opowiadanie): Use words freely, just as in the Basic Variant.
STAMMERING TELLING (Opowiadanie jąkając się): Use words freely, but you must stammer while doing so.
SINGING TELLING (Opowiadanie śpiewając): Use words freely, but you must sing them.
SHOUTING TELLING (Opowiadanie krzycząc): Use words freely, but you must shout them.
QUESTIONS ONLY TELLING (Opowiadanie tylko pytaniami): Use words freely, but every sentence must be formed as a question.
NOUNS ONLY TELLING (Opowiadanie tylko rzeczownikami): Use only nouns when telling.
TELLING WITH SQUATS (Opowiadanie z przysiadami): Use words freely, but do a squat after EVERY word.
TELLING WITH JUMPING JACKS (Opowiadanie z pajacykami): Use words freely, but do a jumping jack after EVERY word.
PLATYPUS (Dziobaki): Use words freely, but every third word you must say: dziobak (platypus, in any inflected form).
IMITATING SOUNDS (Naśladowanie dźwięków): You may only use onomatopoeia or hum, but you may not gesticulate.
REPORTING (Składanie meldunku): Use words freely, but you must stand at attention and behave like a soldier giving a report.
TRAITOR (Zdrajca): Use words freely, but your goal is to mislead the active player so that they guess as few phrases as possible. At the end, take all the phrases you did not see guessed in this turn and place them in front of you, to receive points for them at the end of the game. This rule also applies during the "One Word at a Time" mode.
ONE WORD AT A TIME (Po jednym słowie): Reveal this card. The other players ignore their Game Mode cards (except the Traitor), but do not reveal them. Starting with the first player to the left of the active player and continuing clockwise, each player says a single word, trying in this way to create one logical hint together.
Additional Rule: Bomb
This rule may be introduced in either the Basic or the Extended Variant.
If the active player says the phrase on the card that is inside the Bomb frame (or part of that phrase), the main phrase is immediately considered not guessed, and it is set aside.
