Setup

  1. Select your color.
  2. Have one player draw a chip from the bag to determine which color goes first.
  3. Separate the chips by color.
  4. The player with the starting color places 2 chips anywhere on the board.
  5. The opposing player then places 2 chips of their color anywhere on the board.

How to Play

After the initial chips are placed, players take turns adding one chip at a time, alternating until someone gets 5 in a row. There's just one more move you need to learn before jumping in — a CULL.

A CULL happens when you trap two of your opponent's chips between two of your own, like this:

(Diagram: blue, red, red, blue — the two red chips are trapped between the blue chips.)

When this happens, you get to flip ONE of the trapped chips. That flipped chip now has to be moved on your opponent's next turn.

Here's how it works:

  1. You place a blue chip and create this: (Diagram: blue, red, red, blue.)
  2. You choose one red chip to flip: (the white chip is flipped.) (Diagram: blue, red, flipped chip, blue.)
  3. On your opponent's next turn: (Diagram: the red player's flipped chip is picked up and moved to a new empty space.)
    • The red player doesn't place a new chip.
    • Instead, they pick up the flipped chip, turn it back over, and move it to a new empty space.
    • That's their whole turn — they skip placing a new chip.

End of Game & Scoring

The first player to get five chips in a row, in any direction, wins that round.

The first player to win 3 rounds is the winner. Alternate the starting player each round.

Still having fun? Keep it going — play 7 rounds for a longer game!

Things to Note

  • Can I CULL more than 2 of my friend's chips? Nope! A CULL only works when exactly 2 chips are trapped between yours.
  • What happens if I make a double-CULL? You're skilled — but you only get to flip one chip. Example: (Diagram: blue, red, red, blue, red, flipped chip, blue.) You pick just one of the red chips to flip.
  • You cannot CULL yourself.
  • What if someone runs out of chips? Nice job! The round ends in a draw.

4-Player Team Mode (2 vs. 2)

Team up! Two players form the Blue Team, and two form the Red Team. Teammates sit opposite each other. Draw a chip from the bag to determine which color goes first.

In this mode, each player starts by placing only 1 chip anywhere on the board, then take turns clockwise until a team gets 5 in a row.

If a CULL is triggered, the team decides together which of the trapped chips to flip. On the opponent's next turn, instead of placing a new chip, they pick up the flipped chip, turn it back over, and move it to a new empty space. That's their whole turn. Play then continues to the next player.

The first team to win 3 rounds is the winner. Alternate the starting team each round.
