56 cards, investigator, game board and instructions

Setup

Place the card deck, unshuffled, in the middle of the table. Have paper and pencil ready in case you want to take notes. As soon as you have finished reading the instructions, place the timeline (on the back of this sheet) next to the deck and put the investigator on 10:00.

Gameplay

  1. Now take card 1, turn it over and read the text aloud.

When you see this symbol on a card (a number in a white box, e.g. "2"), immediately take the matching card from the deck and read it right away. So take card 2 immediately and read the text aloud.

  2. On card 2 you see several leads. From now on you must always decide on one lead. Cards you have received once, you keep for the whole game - so you can also choose further leads of that card later if you like.

    Note when choosing leads:

Example lead: "Bühne untersuchen." (Examine the stage.) with a time frame "10:00-11:00", then a box "5" and then "30 Min." with a clock symbol.

    • The time frame (10:00-11:00): You can only choose this lead if the investigator is currently within this time frame.
    • The number in the box (5): Take this card from the deck and read it.
    • The minutes ("30 Min."): Move the investigator this many minutes further along the timeline as indicated.

    Further rules:

    • You may not choose a lead that would move the investigator past the last space of the timeline.
    • For leads with a time restriction, only the space the investigator is currently on counts. If the investigator is currently on 10:30 and the lead shows the time frame "8:30-10:30", you may choose this lead (regardless of how long it takes to follow this lead).
  3. From now on you are on your own! After you have completely dealt with a card, always decide which lead you want to follow next.

  4. Whenever the investigator lands on a space like this (a space on the timeline showing a time, e.g. 11:30, with a card number, e.g. 39) or jumps over it, you immediately take the card shown and may read it. You may read this card without having to move the investigator. If you receive several cards at the same time, you may decide yourself in which order you want to read them.

End of the Game

The game ends either as soon as the investigator has reached the last space of the timeline, or you voluntarily want to solve the case. You receive no bonus for solving the case earlier - so take your time!

Then take card 55. There you will be asked questions about the case and some of its background. As soon as you have answered the questions, you can check your answers with the help of the solution. The more questions you can answer correctly, the better!

Enough explanation - after all, you still have an important case to solve! Have fun in Berlin, and find out what happened!

Turn these instructions over now. On the back you will find an overview of the characters!

If the investigator reaches or passes the space 11:30, for example, you may immediately take card 39 and read it, without this costing time.
