Contents

  • 1 game board (consisting of 6 puzzle pieces)
  • 1 farmer Tim
  • 12 cloverleaves
  • 12 animal kid tiles
  • 1 die
  • Set of game instructions

Game Idea

Farmer Tim wants to check to see if everything is in order on the meadow so he can feed the animal kids. But the rascals happily frolic about and farmer Tim soon loses track. Can you help Tim feed and count the animal kids?

Preparation

Assemble the game board and spread the twelve animal tiles with either side face up in the center of the game board. Place farmer Tim on any square showing a cloverleaf. Each child receives three cloverleaves and keeps them in front of him. Remaining cloverleaves are returned to the game box. Get the die ready.

How to Play

Play in a clockwise direction. Whoever is the quickest at counting up to three starts and rolls the die.

What does the die show?

  • The little calf, lamb, piglet or foal? Amidst the bedlam Farmer Tim has lost track! Count all the animal kids of this kind that are lying face up on the game board! Then move farmer Tim as many squares as animal kids that you have counted.

    Where does farmer Tim land?

    • On a square with a cloverleaf: Now you can feed an animal! Take one of your cloverleaves and with it tap any animal kid on the game board. Then turn over this animal tile and place your cloverleaf in the game box.
    • On an empty square: Nothing happens. Unfortunately you can't feed any animal kid.
  • The cloverleaf? You can immediately feed an animal kid! Take one of our cloverleaves and use it to tap any animal kid lying on the game board. Then turn over the animal tile that was tapped and place the cloverleaf in the game box. Farmer Tim stays where he is.

Then it's the turn of the next child to roll the die.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as a child has fed his last cloverleaf to an animal kid. Super, you were Farmer Tim's best helper and have won the game!

Hint: In this game the children count a maximum of ten animal kids of any kind. The game becomes easier if you sort out all the animal tiles with the dark green border. Now the children will only have to count a maximum of five animal kids.

Look Closely Assignments for 1 Child and 1 Adult

Assemble the game board and place it in the center of the table. Farmer Tim, the animal kid tiles and cloverleaves are not needed.

Slowly read the assignments out loud. Give your child time to think, search and count. Only help your child if he can't find the solution on his own. If a question is still too difficult just skip it. Of course you can also think up other questions. The assignments 1 and 2 familiarize your child with the details shown on the game board and are good preparation for the counting tasks of assignment 3.
