Components

3 Skillset Decks, each with 6 cards: 6 Protector cards, 6 Searcher cards, 6 Merchant cards.

Each card shows a Rank, a Goal (the text along the side of the card, e.g. "Highest Merchant"), and a Discard Effect (the effect at the bottom of the card).

Combining Sets

Converge can be played using any 3 Skillset Decks from any Converge games.

Each game, choose any 3 Skillset Decks and shuffle them together to form an 18-card deck. Then continue from step 1 of Round Setup.

Round Setup

Shuffle all 18 cards together, and distribute them as follows:

  1. Deal a face-down hand of 3 cards to each player.
  2. Place 1 card face down in front of the player who most recently lost a game. This is the artifact and will remain face-down for the entire round.
  3. Place 1 card face up between both players to start the discard pile.
  4. Place the remaining cards in a face-down pile between both players to form the draw deck.

The play area consists of Player 1 Faction, the Shared Goals Area (between the players), and Player 2 Faction.

Gameplay

The game takes place over 3 rounds, during which players build factions to complete goals while also vying for the artifact. Each round is played over a series of turns, in which players attempt to fulfill goals and take the artifact. Every turn, the player with the artifact plays a card from their hand, then the other player plays a card.

Playing a Card

Each card may be played in one of three ways:

  • Use Discard Effect: Resolve the effect at the bottom of the card, then discard it face up.
  • Declare Goal: Place it face up between both players as a shared goal.
  • Add to Faction: Place it face up in either player's faction.

Note: A player may add cards to their opponent's faction, and use discard effects to modify their opponent's faction.

End of Turn

After both players have played a card, tally their scores from the shared goals. If a player's faction fulfills a goal, they receive 1 point for each symbol shown in that goal.

Goals which require the "fewest," "most," "highest," or "lowest" only grant a point if there is a single winner. Other goals can be fulfilled by both players at once.

  • If the player with the artifact scores more points, they win the round.
  • If the other player scores more points, they take the artifact.
  • If both players score the same, the artifact does not move.

If neither player has won, each player draws a card and they play the next turn. Play continues after the draw deck is empty until a winner is declared. If both players' hands are empty and no one has won, the player with the artifact wins!

Scoring Example

Player 1 scores 1 point from "Highest Searcher" and 2 points from "3 cards with different ranks".

Player 2 (who began the turn with the artifact) scores 1 point from "Most Merchants" and 2 points from "3 cards with different ranks".

The 3-3 tie means the artifact does not move, and a new turn begins. If all cards have been played, Player 2 wins as they have the artifact.

Winning the Round

The first player to achieve one of the following wins the round:

  • Start a turn with the artifact and score more points than their opponent at the end of that turn.
  • Have the artifact when all cards have been played.

Set up and play the next round.

Winning the Game

The first player to win 2 rounds wins the game.
