- 25 Cover-Up cards
- 6 game tokens and 2 dice
Objective
Collect conspiracy cards by correctly answering trivia questions. The first player to get a matching set of cards wins the game by becoming the Ultimate Conspiracist.
We'll leave it up to you to decide if that is actually a good thing!
Getting Started
Place the game board on the table in the center of the players. Shuffle the deck of Cover-Up cards and place them face down on the designated spot on the game board.
Each player places their token on a corner of the triangle on the game board (player's choice). Players do not all have to start on the same corner.
Choose a player to go first. Note: any player that can prove they were abducted by aliens automatically gets the first roll. If, as often happens, two or more players have been abducted, then the one who was most recently abducted goes first.
How to Play
Roll the two dice. If you roll doubles, refer to the "Double Rolls" chart located on the game board for instructions. Otherwise, move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces equal to the sum of the rolled dice.
Below are instructions on what to do for each type of space you can land on.
Discovery
Roll one die and refer to the game board "Discovery" chart.
- Dumpster Diver - take the top card from the discard pile. If no cards are in the discard pile, the New World Order has thwarted your efforts and you get nothing!
- Share the Wealth - all other players must show you their cards. Choose one and add it to your card collection.
This ends your turn. Play passes to the player to your left.
Note: If you complete a winning set with Discovery, you win!! All players should decide before play begins if winning with Discovery is allowed or if players must answer a question correctly to win (alternate rule).
Cover-Up
Take the top card from the Cover-Up deck, read it aloud, and follow whatever actions are indicated (this usually involves losing some of your conspiracy cards). Place the Cover-Up card on the bottom of the deck.
This ends your turn. Play passes to the player to your left.
Conspiracy Tiles
The conspiracy tiles are Mythos, Random, Aliens, Tech, and Schemes. The corners are Wild Card spaces (marked "Find the Answers").
If you land on any of these spaces, it's time to test your conspiracy knowledge. Have another player draw a card from the conspiracy card box and read it aloud, including the category and all four answer choices.
An incorrect answer ends your turn. Place the conspiracy card in the discard pile and play passes to the player to your left.
Answer correctly and you add that conspiracy card to your collection. Plus, if you are on a corner space or the category of the card you answered matches the space you landed on (e.g. Mythos), you can roll again. Otherwise, this ends your turn and play passes to the player to your left.
Winning the Game
The first player to collect a matching set of three cards or a card from every category becomes the Ultimate Conspiracist and wins.
Printed examples: "Example of a winning matched set of three cards" (three ALIENS cards) and "Example of a winning set of mixed cards" (one card from each category).
Bonus Stuff
Have questions about a specific conspiracy? Scan the QR code in the corner of each card to get more information on that conspiracy.
Additional challenge: the incorrect answers on many of the cards include references from popular sci-fi and fantasy books and movies. Can you spot them?
