- Determine Play Order: Randomly select which player begins, play then continues clockwise.
- Draw Hand: All players draw 5 cards from their chosen deck/library and receive 10 Food each.
- First Turn: The Player Action Stage now begins. (See Page 7)
Action Stage
- Collect Food: Collect the food you have produce in your turn. An amount of food collected is justified by the number of your Food Production Card.
- Draw Card: You can only draw 1 card per turn, and you can only draw from your library.
- Produce Unit & Use Skill: Producing unit requires a number of foods, as mentioned above, you'll need to spend a certain amount in order to produce a unit and put in the field, and this also applies to instant skills & passive skills.
- Attacking & Defending:
- Attack Phase: During this phase, Active player will declare a number of insects he/she controls to attack a target Hive card in play. Only those insects that are in play may be chosen to attack.
- Defending Phase: A defending player may choose any number of insects he/she controls to block an attacking insect. Only those insects that are in play may be chosen to block. He/she may choose to increase the number of blockers on a target attacking insect.
- For Example: Active player Beetle Attacks and Hive, defending player may choose to block the attacking creature with two or more Ants that he/she controls.
- Healing: Players may purchase health at a cost of 10 Food for 1 Hive Health Point. Players may purchase as much health as long as they have Food available to pay for it each turn but must not exceed 30 Hive Points.
- Pay Upkeep: A player can only have 5 upkeep cards "card in hands", exceeding cards in hand must be paid 1 food resource each at the end of the player's turn. Example, if a player has 7 cards, the player must pay 2 food resource in order to keep the cards in hand. Players can also pay for their hive points or either discard the exceeding card(s).
Starting the game:
After shuffling the chosen insect decks, both players will draw 5 cards as their starting hand and all players will take 10 food tokens as their starting food resources. After designating which player will start the game, the action stage begins.
Players' turn: Hive Health Points
If a player has Food Production cards in their hand they can play it in the field. Food Production cards produce Food each turn. The more Food Production cards a player has in play, the more Food they receive each turn.
Players' turn: Food Resources / Production
If the starting player have food production card in his/her upkeep cards, he/she can play it and put it in the field, food production card produces a certain amount of Food per turn, i.e. Worker Ants Card, this card produces 1 food per turn, the more you have worker ants card, the more food you get per turn.
Players' turn: Food Production Upgrade
There are Food Production Upgrade cards which make your basic Food Production cards more efficient such as such as Bird Carcass Card, Leftovers Card & Over-Ripe Fruit Card from Ant Colony.
Players' turn: Producing Units
Unit Production requires a certain cost in Food. The more powerful the Unit, the higher the cost and vice-versa.
Players' turn: Upkeep Cards
Upkeep cards are the unused cards left remaining in a player's hand at the end of their turn. A player can only hold 5 cards as their upkeep cards, exceeding number of cards in their hand must be paid 1 food each or either discarding the exceeding card.
Important: Players pay no upkeep on their first turn.
Hive Health Points
If a player's Hive Health Points decreased from 30, they can repair their hive and gain 1 life points by using their food resources. 10 food are equivalent to 1 Hive Health Points.

Food Production
Food Production Types
There are 2 types of Food production cards; the basic Food production card and upgraded Food Production card.
Basic Food production cards produce 1 or 2 Food per turn. These cards require no Food to play.
Food Production Upgrade cards produce 3 or 4 Food per turn. In order to use these cards, players need to pay Food then exchange their basic Food Production card for an upgraded Production card. Basic Food Production cards are then returned to the bottom of the player's library.
Each turn a player receives food according to the amount of Food producing card they currently have in play. Players can use different colored tokens to represent their current Food total.
Food Tokens
- Green (1) – This token stands for 1 food
- Red (2) – This token stands for 2 food
- Blue (5) – This token stands for 5 food
- Yellow (10) – This token stands for 10 food
50 pcs each color are included in the game's basic game set.
General Rules
If a player has a Food production card, they may play it on the field on their turn. Players may only play one Food Production or Upgrade card each turn. (Not both)
Units and Skills have a Food requirement that must be paid before it may be summoned onto the field.
Some Resource Production cards are upgrades, for example, if a player has a Food production card that produces 1 Food per turn, it can be upgraded with an appropriate card to produce more Food per turn.
Players have 30 Hive Health Points. This number cannot be exceeded. There are 2 winning conditions in the game, either defeat the other players by reducing their Hive Health to 0 or attain a winning stack of 150 Food.
Players may purchase health at a cost of 10 Food for 2 Hive Health Point.
Players may purchase as much health as they have Food available for it each turn but must not exceed 30 Hive Points.
Note: the Action Stage section above (Healing) and the Starting the game section give a rate of 10 Food for 1 Hive Health Point, while this section prints 2 Hive Health Points for 10 Food. Both are transcribed as printed; the rulebook does not reconcile them.
