Letter from Camdale Police
Dear Detective,
Please find enclosed all retained papers relating to open case 722516, the killing of Andrew (Andy) Bailey by person or persons unknown at Finden Hall Woods on the morning of Friday, June 17th 1988. Our small community was shaken by this crime and it still troubles some of us, particularly those on the Force who can remember the incident, that it remains unsolved. I hope your specific knowledge and experience will succeed where we have failed, even after all this time.
For conservation purposes, any physical evidence, as well as audio and video recordings from the original case, are off-site at the area climate-controlled storage facility. The transcripts and documents here are everything you have to work with.
I have cross-referenced the original records to compile a list of contents for you on the next page. Record-keeping back then wasn't as good as it is today, so I apologise if the files are a bit muddled. The key information we were unable to ascertain on the case is as follows:
- Who killed Andy Bailey?
- If the killer was not found present at the scene of the crime, then how did they escape notice entering and exiting?
- Where did the murder weapon come from?
- We have reason to believe that £20 was missing from the scene of the crime. Who took this money, and what was it used for?
If you are able to make any headway on the case and find cause to reopen the investigation, you should pass the details to the Royal Prosecution Service at: ThinkFun.com/ColdCase. The webpage will process your findings in order to determine if further investigation is warranted.
This murder had a huge effect on us here in our small, rural community. I hope you are able to succeed where we have failed and finally bring us all some closure.
Good luck!
