Game Materials

  • 55 game cards (50 with numbers from 1 to 50, plus 5 star jokers)
  • 13 star tokens

Players: 3–6. Age: 7+. Duration: 15 minutes.

Object of the Game

To be the last player to still be able to lay out cards in order to receive a star.

Collect 3 stars to win the game.

Set-Up

Keep the star tokens handy as a supply.

Shuffle the game cards and deal 5 of them to each player as his hand cards.

Put the remaining cards as a draw pile within reach.

Choose a starting player.

Get Started!

The starting player places any one of his hand cards in the middle. Now, in clockwise order, players always put a fitting card on top of the previously played one. A card fits if it shows either a

  • higher number
  • or a star in the same color
  • (or both).

Players do not draw a new card yet – not before the next round.

Star Joker

A star joker has no number, but all star colors. It may only be put on a card showing a star, and you may also put only another card with a star on top of it.

Nothing Fits? Then You Need to Pass...

If you don't have any fitting card, you say "I pass" and put your cards face down on the table. You may no longer play any cards in this round.

The Round Ends as Soon As...

A) all players but one have passed, or

B) all players who are still involved have placed their last card.

In both cases, the last player to play a card wins this round and receives a star.

After that, this player draws from the draw pile to refill his hand to 5 cards. All the other players may discard any number of hand cards and then refill their hand to 5 cards. All discarded cards are put on a discard pile, along with the cards that have been played this round. If the draw pile is depleted, shuffle the discard pile and form a new draw pile.

The winner of the current round begins the next round by playing any card.

End of the Game

Once one player owns 3 stars, this player wins and may now proclaim the title of superstar. But if somebody insists that the winner was just lucky, you can put this to a test in a second game.
