Components

(The rulebook shows a labelled picture of the built game.) Labelled parts: Building, Space, Helicopter, Jail, Move brick, Money, Thief, Train station, Police officer, LEGO Dice.

Aim of the Game

The thieves win if they steal all 10 stacks of money. The police win if they catch all 4 thieves.

Building the Game

Before you start to play, build the game using the LEGO building instructions.

Check the LEGO Dice is built with these 6 sides. (The rulebook pictures the die faces: green, green and blue, and blue.)

Preparing to Play

Place all the move bricks face down and shuffle them. Decide who will play the thieves and who will play the police officers. If there are more than 2 players, split up into teams. One team moves the thieves, the other team moves the police.

Playing the Game

The thieves go first. Then the police and thieves take turns.

Move

When it's your turn, pick one move brick. Turn it face up. When ALL the move bricks are face up, turn them all face down again and mix them up.

  • Number: When you turn over a number, move one of your figures the EXACT number of spaces shown in any direction. You can't stop until you've moved the whole number. You can move past other figures, but you can't turn around and move onto the same space twice in one turn.
  • Train symbol: When you turn over the train symbol, move one of your figures directly to any train station.

Thieves — Stealing Money

When a thief lands EXACTLY in a space next to a building, the thieves can try to steal some money. Roll the LEGO Dice to find out what happens.

  • Green: When you roll green, the thieves get 2 stacks of money.
  • Green and blue: When you roll green and blue, the thieves get 1 stack of money AND set off the alarm! The police can now immediately move the helicopter onto any building to protect it. The thieves can't steal from the building protected by the helicopter.
  • Blue: When you roll blue, the thieves set off the alarm and get NO money! The police can now immediately move the helicopter onto any building to protect it. The thieves can't steal from the building protected by the helicopter.

Police — Catching Thieves

When a police officer lands EXACTLY in a space occupied by a thief, the police catch the thief! Put the thief in jail for the rest of the game.

Winning the Game

The thieves win if they steal all 10 stacks of money. The police win if they catch all 4 thieves.

Changing the Game

LEGO Games are made to be changed. Try adding one of these new rules or thinking up rules of your own. It's better if you change just one thing at a time, and always remember to make sure everyone knows the rules before you start playing!

Jail Break

The rules for how to use the jail change. At the start of the game, add the jail to the board as shown. When a thief lands EXACTLY in the space next to the jail, the thief can help ONE thief inside the jail escape! Put the escaped thief on any train station.

Helicopter Raid

The rules for the police helicopter change. When the thieves set off the alarm, the police can EITHER move the helicopter onto any building as normal OR move a police officer to any space next to the building protected by the helicopter.

Ride the Train

The rules for moving around the board change. When you land EXACTLY in a train station, you can immediately move to any EMPTY train station on the board.

LEGO Tilt

The best way to pick up a LEGO piece is by tilting it before you lift it.
