Components

18 cards with territories and scoring conditions, all marked with the Guns icon on the scoring condition side.

Overview

Circle The Wagons: Second Shot is a standalone expansion that can be played alone or combined with Circle The Wagons. To play it standalone, use the base game rules and the 18 Second Shot cards. To combine both games together, you can play one of two ways.

Randomized Variant

Shuffle all 36 cards together, deal a random 18-card deck, and use that deck to play a game.

Newfangled Variant

Round 1 Setup

Shuffle the cards from both games together, and divide them into two 18-card decks. Set aside one deck, and use the other deck to set up and play a game according to the base game rules.

Round 1 Scoring

Players score points using only the three scoring conditions. They do not score their largest groups of each territory type.

Round 2 Setup

  1. The player with the lowest score becomes the dealer and sets up round two. If players are tied, the player with the fewest cards in their town becomes the dealer.
  2. The dealer removes the round-one scoring conditions from the game.
  3. The dealer shuffles the deck set aside earlier, and reveals the scoring conditions of the top 4 cards. They choose 3 of these cards to be the new scoring conditions for round two.
  4. The dealer flips the fourth card over and places it as the starting card in a new circle of cards for round two.
  5. The dealer completes the circle by dealing the remaining 14 cards in the deck.
  6. The dealer decides which player will play first using the starting card in the circle.

Play round two according to the base game rules. Each player continues building the town they began in round one.

Round 2 Scoring

Players score points according to the base game rules, scoring their largest groups in addition to the round-two scoring conditions.

Winning the Game

The player with the highest combined score from both rounds wins the game! If players are tied, the player with the most Guns wins. If players are still tied, they share the victory.
