Goal
Be the first to get three of your pawns across the bridge. If nobody manages this, the player with the most points wins the game.
To speed up their progress, players are encouraged to bluff!
Components
- 1 bridge, to be placed on the open game box
- 1 podium, to be placed next to the box, in line with the bridge
- 28 pawns in 4 different colors
- 1 black box (shaker) containing 1 die
Setup
Place the bridge on the open game box. There is an arrow on one side of the bridge marking the starting line. In line with the far end of the bridge, next to the game box, place the podium.
Each player takes the 7 pawns of a color of their choice, and immediately places one pawn on the starting line of the bridge.
Choose the first player.
Turn Sequence
In turn, each player carries out the following actions:
- The player shakes the black box together with the die inside it.
- The player sets the black box down on the table and secretly checks the result of the die.
- The die shows a number from 1 to 4, or a cross (with the cross, the player is forced to bluff).
- The player announces out loud a number from 1 to 4, which may or may not match the result of the die (a player may bluff even when the die shows a number).
- The other players may accept or challenge the announcement.
- If all the other players accept the announcement, the player advances their pawn along the bridge by as many planks as they announced. The player may then shake the black box before passing it to the next player, so as not to reveal whether they bluffed or not.
- If an opponent challenges the announcement, the player must reveal the result of the die:
- If the player did in fact bluff, the challenging opponent throws the player's pawn off the bridge, calling out "Ciao Ciao!" The player places a new pawn on the starting line. The opponent then advances their own pawn along the bridge by as many planks as the player had announced.
- If the player did not bluff, the player throws the challenger's pawn off the bridge, calling out "Ciao Ciao!" The opponent places a new pawn on the starting line. The player then advances their own pawn along the bridge by as many planks as they had announced.
When a player's advancing pawn passes the last plank of the bridge, they place it on the podium: the first pawn to arrive scores 1 point, the second scores 2 points, and so on. The player then immediately places a new pawn on the starting line.
When a player has no more pawns left to place on the starting line, they can no longer advance, but they may still challenge their opponents' announcements. In this case, if they challenge wrongly, they lose one of the pawns they have on the podium. If they have no pawns left on the podium, they may no longer challenge.
End of the Game
The game can end in one of two ways:
- If a player has three of their pawns on the podium, they immediately win the game.
- If there are no more pawns still racing, or if the last space on the podium is filled without any player having placed three of their pawns there, the player with the most points wins the game.
