If the captain plays a Jetpack and a passenger then plays Magic Spyglass, what happens?

The Spyglass saves the aircraft, so the crash is averted. The captain takes his Jetpack back and the journey goes on with him aboard. The captain is expected to leave passengers time to react before bailing out. A community poster argued a passenger's Spyglass cannot work once the captain has left, but the publisher ruled the other way.
