Can I use one expedition loot item right away to pay for another in the same expedition?
The designer said items are taken one at a time and used immediately.

Yes. Loot items are chosen one by one in any order and take effect at once, so stone from one item can pay for a furnishing from a later item. The exception is the weapon increase, which only applies after the expedition ends. The same loot item cannot be taken twice, but different items from one level, even two dwellings from different items, are fine.
