Expansion Overview

The Artificer's Tower expansion requires the Catapult Kingdoms core game.

Combine the contents of the Catapult Kingdoms core game and the Artificer's Tower expansion. During setup, players choose a family and take their respective bricks, gates, parapets, troops, and a player board. Each player takes any combination of 2 weapons and one of each type of Action Card. Follow the remaining Catapult Kingdoms core game setup and rules. Any rule that affects bricks applies also to parapets.

Components

  • 2x Mighty Plunger (weapon)
  • 12x Action Card
  • 4x Beehive Ammo
  • 6x Chauffort Tower Brick
  • 4x Chauffort Tower Mini Brick
  • 2x Chauffort Tower Parapet
  • 6x Cunningfields Tower Brick
  • 4x Cunningfields Tower Mini Brick
  • 2x Cunningfields Tower Parapet

The Mighty Plunger

If you choose the Mighty Plunger weapon, during setup, place it at the left or the right side of your player board. The front part of the weapon can be a maximum distance of 2 from the edges of the player board. During the game, the following rules apply:

  1. Driver's seat: During the Aim Phase, if there is not a troop on the Mighty Plunger, you may take one of your troops (that is in play, not from the box) and place it onto the Plunger's seat. As long as there is a troop on the Plunger, you are allowed to move it around the battlefield and use it to fire at your opponent.

  2. Move Forward: During the Aim Phase, instead of repositioning your Mighty Plunger, you may move it by a distance of 2 in any direction (preferably closer to your enemy's castle). Unlike other weapons, the Mighty Plunger has wheels, allowing it to move closer to its target!

  3. Knock them down: If your troop is knocked over by the Mighty Plunger (by an enemy's boulder or a fireball), the troop goes back to the box. At the same time, your Mighty Plunger goes back to its starting location, at the side of your player board, making sure its front is a maximum distance of 2 from the edges. If you accidentally knock your troop down while moving the Plunger or shooting with the Plunger, simply place them back on their seat.

Action Cards Reference

  • Plunger Thruster: During the Aim Phase, you may move your Mighty Plunger an extra distance of 4 (to a max total of 6).
  • Broken Wheel: Place this card beside a Mighty Plunger. As long as this card is in play, the weapon can only move a maximum distance of 1. This affects and negates the effect of a Plunger Thruster card. At the beginning of your next turn, discard this card.
  • Tumble up: If there is not a troop on your Mighty Plunger, place one of your Troops from the box on its driver's seat.
  • Anchor: Place this card beside a Mighty Plunger. Next time the Plunger is hit and the troop driving is knocked over, remove the troop. Instead of returning the Plunger back to its starting location, discard this card.
  • Nay: After an opponent declares the Action Card they will use, cancel that Action Card's effect. This card can be played at any time during the game, as a reaction to any player, playing any card, even another NAY card!
  • Beehive: Instead of a boulder, load your weapon with a beehive! If you hit any of your opponent's bricks, the bees chase their troops. Move up to 3 of your opponent's troops to new valid locations, following the Troop Placement Rules.

Assembling the Mighty Plunger

  1. Take the barrel, the ram and one elastic band from the box.
  2. Pass the ram through the barrel, and through the back of the Mighty Plunger.
  3. Pass the elastic band through the hole. Stretch the elastic band and attach it at the pegs on both sides of the Mighty Plunger.
  4. If you need further instructions, watch the weapon assembly videos on www.vesuviusmedia.com/catapultkingdoms.
