Setup
In games for 3 and 4 players, 2 Stoffräuber (any two) take part. In games for 5 and 6 players, all three Stoffräuber take part.
The Stoffräuber are set aside off the game board.
How to Get a Stoffräuber
If a player has a resource card stolen from them by a "7" or by playing a Knight, that player takes one of the Stoffräuber.
Once all of the Stoffräuber have been handed out, the player who had a card stolen takes one Stoffräuber away from the player who stole from them. If that player has no Stoffräuber, the player who had the card stolen takes one Stoffräuber away from any other player instead.
How the Stoffräuber Help
- A player who owns at least one Stoffräuber may keep up to 10 cards in hand when the robber event (a "7") is rolled.
- A player who owns at least 2 Stoffräuber, and who is not the sole player with the most victory points, is protected from the robber. The robber may not be placed on a hex where this player has a city or a settlement.
