Components
- 4 sets of numbered cards, numbered 1 to 13
- 3 dice
- 48 coins
Setup
Each player takes one set of numbered cards (1 to 13) and 12 coins.
Object of the Game
Win several bets by having played the card of highest value, without exceeding the result shown by the dice, and be the richest player at the end of the 12 turns of play.
How to Play
The youngest player starts the game. Play then continues clockwise.
The active player announces how many dice will be rolled for the turn, then plays a card face down in front of them. They also place one coin on the table.
All other players must then bet one coin and play a card face down.
The active player then rolls the number of dice announced at the start of the turn. The result is the "massimo", the Italian word for "maximum".
All players reveal their cards. The winner of the turn is the player who played the card of highest value without exceeding the "massimo" (less than or equal to it).
Before the cards are revealed, the active player may announce: "Quitte" or "Double".
- If they announce "Quitte", all players reveal their card immediately.
- If they announce "Double", they bet one additional coin. All other players (clockwise) may bet one additional coin or withdraw. If all the other players withdraw, the active player wins the turn.
Note: only the active player may make this announcement.
The winner of the turn collects all the coins bet. In the case of a tie, the coins are divided equally among the tied winners, and any remainder stays on the table for the next turn.
It can happen that no one wins (all players have played cards with a value above the "massimo"). In that case, the coins bet remain on the table for the next turn.
In all cases, the cards played are discarded and laid face up in front of each player, and a new turn begins. The player to the left of the active player becomes the new active player.
End of the Game
At the end of the 12th turn, the game ends and the richest player is declared the winner.
Note: players who start the game with 13 cards will therefore leave one of them unplayed.
Elimination of a Player
If, through bad luck, a player runs out of coins during the game, they are eliminated. No credit is accepted.
