1 Snakes & Ladders scoring board

Setup

Use the Snakes & Ladders scoring board instead of the usual one. Then, as usual, place one meeple of each player on space 0.

This mini-expansion was designed for the Carcassonne base game, whose rules remain in force. You can also play Snakes & Ladders with other expansions, but "at your own risk": there are no official rules for doing so.

Game Flow

This expansion does not change the regular game flow. As usual, you carry out the steps 1. Place a landscape tile, 2. Deploy a meeple and 3. Trigger a scoring.

3. Trigger a Scoring

As in the base game, you count on this scoring board the points that you and the other players collect during the game. However, there are some special spaces on which the scoring meeples are moved.

  • On spaces 1, 16 and 32 a ladder begins. This is marked by a person.
  • On spaces 13, 31, 39 and 48 is the head of a snake.

After you have scored everything, look at the scoring board to see where the scoring meeples stand.

  • If a scoring meeple stands at the start of a ladder, it climbs "up" and now stands at the end of the ladder.
  • If a scoring meeple stands at the head of a snake, it is "eaten" and is moved to the tail end of the snake.

The leaflet's worked example (no heading printed; the board illustration is omitted here):

  • You stand on 16. Your scoring meeple climbs the ladder "up". Now it stands on space 34.
  • Blue stands on 39 and is "eaten" by the snake. You move the blue scoring meeple back to space 11.
  • Green stands on space 27. Nothing happens on this space, so the scoring meeple simply stays where it is.

Final Scoring

At the end of the game, carry out the final scoring as usual. Ignore all snakes and ladders while doing so.
