Game Target
Steal one treasure to the CAVE from the Castle to prove you are SO EVIL.
Component
- Cave Card / Castle Card x2: Front side and back side.
- Hero Card x 30: All types of heroes are saying hello to you.
- Question Card x 30: Taking the action instructed on the Question Card.
- Dark Servant: Place the Dark Servant on the stand.
- Dice: Throw the dice to move forward.
- Precious treasure: Fit the precious treasure to another socket on the stand.
Note: the printed English component list gives "Question Card x 30", while the Settlement step below adds 4 Question Cards to the track. The Traditional Chinese and Japanese component lists both give Question Card x4. The count is transcribed as printed; the Settlement text is the operative count for play.
Type of Game Cards
- Take 1 step backward.
- The active player takes 1 step forward or backward.
- Exchange any 2 cards on the track. (The Card where any of the servants stays cannot be exchanged).
- The active player takes 2 steps forward.
- The active player takes 2 or 3 steps backward.
Settlement
- Each player chooses to be one of the dark servants. Each dark servant's background color is the player's representative color. After that, take 6 hero cards which present the same color as the representative color to be the player's hands. If the game is played by less than 5 players, place the non-used hero cards aside.
- Every player randomly takes 4 cards (without looking at them) from their hands; then shuffle these cards with 4 Question Cards (without looking at them). After that, take these shuffled cards in a row as "the track". Put the Cave Card and the Castle Card at the ends of "the track" respectively. Place the precious treasure on the Castle Card.
Example of the Track Settlement (For 5 players): The players can freely arrange the form of the track based on the table size. However, the Cave Card and the Castle Card shall be placed at the ends of the track no matter what the form of the track is. (The printed example marks the Starting Point and a Turning Point, where the track bends back, with the Treasures placed at the Castle end.)
- All players put their individual dark servant on the Cave Card and head for the Castle. The player with the longest nail goes first (or decided on finger-guessing game). The first player throws the dice to start the game.
Procedure
Treasure Journey (The Cave → The Castle)
- Throwing the dice: On your turn, throw the dice and move forward to the Castle based on the number of dots you get.
- Interruption: Each of the players, including the active player, can play one or more Hero Cards, or do not play Hero Cards, to get the active servant to move forward or backward (a Hero Card is allowed to be used on the active servant only). Then, move the used Hero Card(s) (the effect side faced up) to the discard pile. *The active player/servant is the player/servant whose turn it is.
- Effect: When all players no longer play Hero Cards, the different effect will occur based on the position where the active servant stays: a. Stay on a Question Card (Question Mark side faced up): Turn the card up and take the action shown on the card. b. Stay on a Question Card (effect side faced up): Take the action. c. Stay on a Hero Card with a different color from the player's representative color: Just stay; no need to take any action. d. Stay on a Hero Card with the same color as the player's representative color: Oh My God! Under this circumstance, it means the servant is kicked out by the Hero, so return to the Cave to restart the journey and take this Hero Card into the player's hands. e. Stay on the Castle Card: When stepping into the Castle, the player will stay in the Castle, so the extra number of dots obtained will be invalid. Take one precious treasure from the Castle and fit it to another socket on the stand.
- The player on the left-hand side takes the next turn.
Homebound Journey (The Cave ← The Castle)
- Throwing the dice: Throw the dice and move forward to the Cave based on the number of dots you get. However, the treasure is too heavy to move faster, so subtract 1 dot from the total number of dots. (If you get one dot, then stay where you are.) In case the "kicked-out" situation occurs, the player shall return to the Castle immediately.
- Interruption: As in the Treasure Journey (see above), each of the players, including the active player, can still play one or more Hero Cards to get the active servant to move forward or backward.
- Effect: When all players no longer play Hero Cards, the different effect will occur based on the position where each dark servant stays. The effects are the same as those described in the Treasure Journey.
- The player on the left-hand side takes the next turn till the end of the game.
Out of the Round
The player who has been kicked out by the Hero for 4 times is out of the round and takes no more turns till the end of the game. (This means there is no more Hero Card with the same color as the player's representative color on the track.)
End of the Game
- The first player who brings the precious treasure to the Cave wins the game!
- If other players are ALL out of the round, the last player who stays on the track wins the game.
Q&A
Q1. Under the situation that the red servant stays on the blue Hero card ("Blue Card A") and the blue servant also steps on Blue Card A in the meantime, according to the rule, the player holding the blue servant will take Blue Card A as hands. However, what shall the red servant do? A1. The red servant shall take 1 step backward.
Q2. Following the question above, what if the red servant is moved to the Red Hero Card after taking one step backward, will it be kicked out as well? A2. Yes. As long as the servant stays on the Hero Card which has the same color as the player's representative color, it will be kicked out.
Q3. Is there any limitation on the number of the hands to be used for each player in turn? A3. No.
Q4. Function of Question Card: "Exchange any 2 cards on the track." Are the cards exchanged limited to Hero Cards? A4. No. Either Hero Card(s) or Question Card(s) is OK.
Q5. During the Homebound Journey, the moving step is -1 from the total number of the dots. What if the player gets 1 dot so as to stay where he/she is, but the card where the player stays is a Question Card, does the player need to take the action required by the Question Card once again? A5. Yes.
Q6. Is the player out, if he/she runs out of hands? A6. No. The player is out of the round only when there is no card with his/her representative color on the track.
Q7. During the Homebound Journey, in case the player is kicked out and returns to the Castle, will the stolen treasure fall off the servant? A7. No. The servant will hang on to it.
