Components
- 24 candy cards in 4 colors
- 4 Munchie Monsters (trump cards)
- 1 Bo (joker)
- 8 sugar chips
Setup
Depending on the number of players, you'll need the following cards:
- 2 players: 2 candy colors and 2 Munchie Monsters of your choice
- 3 players: 3 candy colors and 3 Munchie Monsters of your choice
- 4 players: 4 candy colors and all Munchie Monsters
Shuffle just the candy cards first and distribute them among all the players. Now shuffle the Munchie Monsters (trump cards) and distribute them as well. Distribute the cards one at a time, until each player has seven cards on their hand.
Now also shuffle the sugar chips and place them face down in a pile in the middle of the table. Return one sugar chip to the box without looking at it.
Tip: Sort the bigger cards toward the back for a better overview and to be able to hold your cards more easily. Younger players can lay their cards out face up on the table.
You're now ready to begin playing!
Gameplay
Turn the first sugar chip over. This determines the points for the round (1 star, 2 stars, ant). You don't want the ant because it will steal a sugar chip from you at the end of the game.
The last person to eat a candy starts and plays any card. The other players then take turns to also play exactly one card and place it in the middle.
If a Munchie Monster is played as the first card, then all players, who still have a Munchie Monster, must also play it.
When each player has played a candy card, compare the card sizes. Whoever played the biggest card wins all the candies – so all of the cards currently in the middle. This will be called a "trick" from now on. Take the sugar chip turned face up. Place the trick and chip in front of you.
If the cards are similar in size, put the card you think is the biggest on top. If you can't see the other cards, then it is indeed the biggest!
Choosing which card to play
IF POSSIBLE, everyone must play the same candy color as the first player.
Don't have a suitable card?
Then you have two options:
- Play any other candy color. It doesn't matter how big your card is, you can NEVER win the trick.
or
- Play a Munchie Monster. If no one plays a bigger Munchie Monster card, then you win the trick.
A new round now begins: Turn over the next sugar chip. The person who won the last trick begins and plays a card.
Example gameplay
Felix starts and plays a blue candy. Miri doesn't have any blue candies, so decides to play a green candy instead. Sebastian plays the biggest blue candy he has, while Bea decides to play her smallest. Now everyone compares candy sizes: Felix's blue candy is bigger than all of the others! So he takes the pile and the sugar chip with one star.
End of the game
Play until no one has any more cards left in their hand, so exactly seven rounds. Before you count your stars, take away one sugar chip for each ant you have in front of you. The player with the most stars at the end of the game wins. If there's a tie, then you share the victory!
Example scoring
Felix has one star and one ant at the end of the game, so he doesn't earn any points as the ant steals his only sugar chip away. Miri and Sebastian each have two stars. Bea has a total of three stars, so she wins the game.
Expert play variation with Bo
Remove one color card from the game and shuffle Bo (the monster card!) in among the color cards. Bo can be played at any time and wins against all trumps and color cards. You always win the trick if you play Bo.
