Bonus Chapter: The Hunt's End
The Hunter's Dream Expansion includes a special Bonus Chapter called "The Hunt's End". After players have completed a Campaign, they may elect to play this special Bonus Chapter using the Hunters they selected during the Campaign (including the various Upgrades and Rewards they have collected). This Bonus Chapter is played just like a normal Chapter.
Mini-Bosses
The Hunter's Dream Expansion also includes a new gameplay mechanic: Mini-Bosses.
Mini-Bosses can be added to any Chapter of any Campaign. They create additional difficulty but also grant special rewards to those who overcome them.
To incorporate Mini-Bosses into a Chapter, you must first create the Mini-Boss Spawn deck:
- Randomly select any number of Mini-Boss cards displaying the image of a Mini-Boss. We recommend using 2, but you may use more or less depending on how challenging you want to make your game. WARNING: Adding too many Mini-Bosses should not be taken lightly!
- Add a number of Mini-Boss Spawn cards that say NONE, until the total number of Mini-Boss Spawn cards equals the total number of tiles in the tile deck. This is the Mini-Boss Spawn deck.
- Shuffle and place this deck to the side, near the Hunt board.
Mini-Boss Rules
- Each time a new tile is revealed, after it is populated and connected to the map and a Hunter has moved onto the new tile, flip a card from the Mini-Boss Spawn deck. If it says NONE, nothing happens. If it reveals a Mini-Boss, spawn the matching Mini-Boss in that Hunter's space.
- Mini-Bosses Activate and function exactly like usual Enemies, with the following exceptions:
- Mini-Bosses are not removed from the map on a Reset symbol. Instead, they Heal all Damage.
- When a Mini-Boss is slain, it grants 1 Blood Echo plus the special Reward/Firearm listed at the bottom of their Enemy card. This can lead to 2 copies of the same Reward being available to a Hunter. They may utilize both copies (remembering the limit of 2 Hunter Tools and 2 Caryll Runes).
- When slain, Mini-Bosses do not respawn. They are permanently defeated!
- If affected by Fog Gates, Mini-Bosses are removed just like any other Enemy.
Transcription notes: in the source sheet, one word in the first bullet is partly hidden by a print smudge; it is read here as "populated" from the visible letters and the sentence. The Reset icon in the exception above is the red round symbol and the Heal icon is the black round symbol on the sheet; they are written out in words per the base rulebook's Reset Point and Heal all Damage rules.
