How many players do I need for Trouble Brewing and for the other editions?
The rulebook states this directly.

Trouble Brewing works from 5 players; Bad Moon Rising and Sects & Violets need 7 or more. At 5–6 players you can use Trouble Brewing as is, or a Teensyville script with fewer characters, but remember evil does not learn each other at that size.
