Overview
Description from the designer:
BIKIDO is an abstract strategy game with complete information. Subtle, elegant and challenging, it tests the players' planning and anticipation skills. They must work their way through the opponent's defense, cross the river by taking over the banks, and use the opponent's pieces to climb up and reach the opposite bird's nest to cover it.
The magnetic box unfolds to become the board. Each player lays out their 34 two-tone acrylic pearlescent tokens and their transparent bird.
In addition to the classic mode, the game provides a campaign of 10 scenarios and 20 starting arrangements of varying difficulty.
General Rule of the Game
Both players take turns playing, one action at a time. On your turn, you must move one of your free tokens or a stack of tokens.
Move of a Single Pilot
A free token can be moved to an adjacent square forward, left, or right.
Slide a free token of your color without changing levels
- Either along the board, to an empty square
- Or from the top of one stack to the top of another adjacent stack, regardless of its color (without changing levels).
Move up one level a free token of your color
Onto a token of the same color, even from one stack to another.
Lower a free token
To an adjacent square of lower level, on the board or onto another token, regardless of its color.
A free token alone can only be moved horizontally or to the opposite side (its front). It can never move back to its side.
Move of a Stack
Instead of a single token, you may move all or part of a stack of tokens, provided that the free token at the top of the stack is of your color.
If you decide to cut a stack in half, only the top part moves (the lower part stays in place).
A stack can slide, but cannot climb or descend. Its Carrier can never change levels.
Crossing the River
A free token (or stack) must not move in the River without being supported by a Support token or a Support chain.
Rebound
If, after a move, a free token ends up on top of a stack of at least three other tokens of its color, that token must be moved again by a Rebound. A token must bounce as many times as necessary.
End of the Game
A game of Bikido can end in two ways: As soon as either of you manages to slide, descend or move up a free token onto the opponent's bird, leaving no adjacent Springboards of your color at the end of its turn, they call out "Biyi" and win the game.
