Components
In this box you will find 1 rulebook and 3 different pictures:
- THE INFERNAL MACHINE: 42 tiles and 6 clue cards
- THE MEAL: 81 tiles and 6 clue cards
- THE NOTEBOOK: 87 tiles and 6 clue cards
Game Tips
- Favour 2-player games. That is the ideal number to get the most out of Behind.
- Take the time to observe each tile of the picture carefully. Every detail is important.
- If you are stuck for more than 10 minutes, consider reading a clue.
- In Behind there is no score, just the satisfaction of having reconstructed the picture.
Goal of the Game
Cooperate to reconstruct a picture by assembling the tiles that make it up.
Play only with the front side of the tiles:
- Analyse them
- Assemble them logically
- And finally flip them over to admire the illustration on the back.
Setup
A. Choose one of the 3 compartments of the box. Each contains a different picture. Open the compartment and take out all the tiles WITHOUT TURNING THEM OVER.
B. Spread them on the table within reach of everyone, shiny side face down, and SHUFFLE them without turning them over.
C. Take the 6 clue cards and place them FACE DOWN within reach.
D. On the flap of the compartment you can see a BRIEFING. Read it very carefully, as it contains very useful information.
Note: To help you tell the front from the back of each tile, look for the shiny sides, which must be placed face down at the start of the game.
- Matte tile: playing face
- Shiny tile: shiny face, to be hidden
Playing the Game
Assemble all the tiles to reconstruct a rectangle. There is only one possible layout. To find it you will have to:
- use the continuity of texts and illustrations (a little)
- understand the logic of the picture (above all!)
If you have difficulty assembling the picture, you may read a clue card:
- Clues must be read in numerical order (first 1, then 2, etc.).
- If a clue is not useful to you, immediately read the next number.
- Clues do not directly give the solution, but help you understand the logic of the picture.
End of the Game
Once all the tiles are assembled, it is time to check whether you have correctly reconstructed the picture.
Start by reading the clue cards one by one; this will let you check that you have not made a mistake.
Then, turn the tiles over SIDEWAYS one by one, to reveal the image on the back of the picture.
If the illustration contains inconsistencies, the picture has not been reconstructed correctly.
