Goal of the Game

The last one left at the end, or the one with the majority on the final tile, wins!

Setup (3-4 Players)

The rules for 2 players are on the last page (see "Rules for 2 Players" below).

The Eliminator

  1. Carefully press the 25 tiles out of the punchboard frame.
  2. Place the punchboard frame in the bottom of the box.
  3. Place the Eliminator in the center of the punchboard frame. The red button must stick out of the side of the box.
  4. Place the arena frame into the box bottom so that the narrow "table legs" point toward the open side of the box.

The Arena

  1. Place all 25 tiles onto their designated spots in the arena. The center tile with the flag goes in the middle.
  2. If you are playing the game for the first time: remove the 4 tiles as shown in the illustration. In later games you can build the arena individually. (Building rules: the center tile with the flag must be in the middle. All other tiles must be connected to the center.)

The Action Cards

Each player chooses a color and takes the 10 action cards and 21 figures of that color (the 22nd figure is a spare). With fewer than 4 players, the remaining unused colors go into the box lid.

Shuffle your cards and place them in front of you as a face-down draw pile. Draw 4 cards - these are your hand.

The Figures

Place 1 figure of each color in play on every tile.

Turn Sequence

The youngest player begins the game, then you take turns clockwise. Each turn consists of two phases:

  1. Movement phase
  2. Doom phase

1. Movement Phase

To move your figures, do the following:

a) Play 1 card: Play any one of your hand cards and place it in front of you.

b) Move figures: Move up to as many of your figures ... each up to as many tiles. (The card shows these two numbers.)

Example: If you play this card, you may move up to 2 of your figures each up to 3 tiles.

c) Draw a card: Place the played card face up onto your discard pile next to your draw pile. Then draw 1 card from the draw pile. If your draw pile is empty, shuffle your discard pile and form a new face-down draw pile.

Movement Rules

  • Move your figures one after the other.
  • Figures may only be moved horizontally or vertically from tile to tile, not diagonally. With each step you may change direction. Example: If you move a figure 3 tiles, you may first move it to the right, then straight ahead and then to the right again.
  • Figures may not be moved across holes.
  • A figure may not be moved over the same tile more than once in one turn.
  • You may also move fewer figures than the card indicates. You may even move no figure at all.
  • You may also move figures fewer tiles than the card indicates. Example: With a "2 figures | 2 steps" card you may also move one figure 2 tiles and another figure 1 tile.

Cards with an Additional Action

Some cards have an additional action. When you play such a card, you first carry out the movement phase and then the additional action. These additional actions are described in the "Doom Phase" section. After the additional action you carry out the Doom phase as normal.

Pushing

Only a maximum number of figures may stand on each tile:

  • 2-3 players: max. 5 figures
  • 4 players: max. 6 figures

If during your turn a figure ends its movement on a tile on which more than the allowed maximum of figures stand, you push one figure onto the next tile - continuing in the direction of movement in which the figure entered the tile.

If the pushed figure is thereby pushed into a hole or off the edge of the arena, that figure is out of the game. Take this figure and place it in front of you as a prisoner.

"Chain reaction": If the pushed figure lands on a tile on which the figure maximum is exceeded again, repeat the "pushing process".

Special case: Through explosions (see "Doom Phase: Explosion") it can happen that 2 or 3 figures more than the maximum stand on a tile. In this case, when you enter this tile you push as many figures onward as necessary so that afterwards only the maximum number of figures stands on the tile.

2. Doom Phase

After you have carried out the movement phase, you roll the Doom die and carry out the corresponding action.

Battle Royale

When the Doom die shows this symbol, there is a majority battle on every single tile in the arena.

Exception: There is no Battle Royale on the center tile!

For every single tile (except the center tile), determine who has the majority and thus wins the battle. To keep track of which tiles you have already resolved, start with the tile in the top left corner and then go through the tiles from left to right and each row from top to bottom.

If all colors present on a tile have the same number of figures there, it is a tie and nothing happens.

Example: On a tile, Purple, Gray and Red each have 1 figure (Turquoise has 0). There is no winner there and nothing happens.

In all other cases, whoever has the most figures on that tile wins the battle. This can be a single player or several.

All players with a majority each take 1 figure prisoner. You must choose a color that does not have a majority.

Special case: Are there several colors with a majority, but only one other color with 1 figure on the tile? Then the player with a majority who sits closest clockwise to the active player takes that figure prisoner.

Examples:

On this tile Purple has 3 figures, Gray 2 figures and Turquoise 1 figure. Purple has the majority and can now take either 1 gray figure or 1 turquoise figure prisoner.

On this tile Turquoise and Gray have 2 figures each, Purple and Red have 1 figure each. Turquoise and Gray have the majority and may each take 1 figure prisoner. Turquoise takes 1 purple figure prisoner, Gray takes 1 red figure prisoner.

Move Eliminator

When the Doom die shows this symbol, you must move the Eliminator.

You must move it by 1 tile - horizontally, vertically or diagonally! You may not move it under a hole!

Explosion

When the Doom die shows this symbol, one of the following two things happens:

  • If the Eliminator is under a hole or under the center tile, carry out the action "Move Eliminator".
  • If the Eliminator is under a tile (other than the center tile), hit the red button of the Eliminator.

The Eliminator now catapults the tile together with the figures on it into the air! Figures from other tiles of the arena can also be knocked off.

Then carry out the following steps:

  • Remove the catapulted tile from the game and place it in the box lid.
  • Remove all figures that have fallen out of the arena from the game and place them in the box lid. These figures do not count as your prisoners!
  • Figures that are no longer standing upright but have not fallen out of the arena are still in the game. Stand them upright again.
  • Figures that have been displaced beside tiles are placed on the nearest tile.

Collapsing Tiles

All tiles in the arena must be connected to the center tile via horizontal and vertical paths.

All tiles that are no longer connected to the center tile after an explosion are removed from the game. Take these tiles, together with the figures on them, out of the arena and place them in the box lid.

Free Choice

When the Doom die shows this symbol, you may choose and carry out one of the 3 Doom die actions (Battle Royale / Move Eliminator / Explosion).

Eliminated Players

If you no longer have any figure in the arena, you are eliminated from the game. You then have to wait until the game ends. This usually does not take long :-)

End of the Game

The game ends immediately when:

  • Only figures of one color remain in the arena: whoever plays that color wins.
  • All figures remaining in the arena stand on the center tile, or only the center tile is left: whoever has the most figures on the center tile wins the game. If several players have the most figures, whoever of them has collected the most prisoners wins. If there is again a tie, there are several winners.

The "Abilities" & "Special Actions" Cards (Optional)

If you have already played the base game, you can add the "Abilities" and "Special Actions" cards to bring even more spice and decisions into the game.

Ability Cards

Setup

Randomly draw as many ability cards as there are players, plus 1. Place these cards face up on the table. The remaining cards go into the box lid. The player sitting to the right of the starting player may choose an ability first and take it, then you each choose an ability counterclockwise. The leftover card goes into the box lid.

Rules

Your ability card gives you a particular ability for the entire duration of the game (see the text on the respective card).

Special Action Cards

Setup

Shuffle the 7 special action cards, randomly draw 3 of them and place them face up on the table.

Rules

The 3 special actions laid out during setup can be used by all players.

During your turn you may use exactly one special action once - directly before or after your movement phase. To do so you must pay the number of figures shown on the card from your prisoner supply and put them back into the box lid. Exception: the action "Roll again" is carried out in the Doom phase.

Rules for 2 Players

Setup

  1. Set up the game as usual.
  2. On the center tile and the 8 tiles around it, place 2 figures each of a third, unused player color.

Special Rules

  • Third color: The figures of the third color do not move on their own. However, they can have the majority in a Battle Royale and thereby remove figures of yours!
  • Additional chance of "Explosion": After every turn, the Doom die is rolled one more time. On this 2nd roll, however, only the "Explosion" is carried out, if it is rolled. If the die shows "Battle Royale", "Move Eliminator" or "Free Choice", nothing happens.
  • Battle Royale rules:
    • In the first 3 turns no Battle Royale takes place!
    • If the third color has the majority in a Battle Royale and both players are represented on the tile without a majority, the player who currently has more figures in total in the arena loses 1 figure. In case of a tie, 1 figure of the currently active player is removed. Figures removed this way are put back into the box lid.
    • If both the third color and you have the majority, you may take 1 figure of your opponent (if present) from that tile prisoner.
