Goal of the Game
Win as many battles as possible in order to collect the most dinosaur cards.
Setup
- Each player takes one set of 12 dinosaurs.
- Each player shuffles their 12 cards and lays them face up in front of them, in the order in which they appear. A player may arrange them in 2 rows of 6 cards or 3 rows of 4 cards.
- For 30 seconds, the players memorise the position of their 12 dinosaurs.
- After 30 seconds, each player turns their 12 cards face down, leaving them in place.
Playing the Game
- The youngest player starts. They turn over the card of their choice from their 12 cards and place it in the centre of the table.
- Then, in clockwise order, each player in turn chooses one of their cards, turns it over and places it in the centre of the table.
- The player who played the strongest card wins all the cards played and keeps them in a pile beside them as points.
- The player who has just won the trick leads the next trick, playing first, and so on.
Special Cases: Battles
When two or more players play a card of the same strength, there is a battle between them:
- Each player involved places, face down, on the card they have just played, another card of their choice.
- When all the players involved have done so, they all turn their cards face up at the same time.
- The player who played the strongest card wins all the cards played into the centre of the table.
- If at least two players again played cards of identical strength, those players, and only those players, continue the battle in the same way until one player wins the trick.
Caution:
- If several players play the same card, but another player plays a stronger card, there is no battle. The player with the stronger card wins the trick.
- At the end of a game with 3 or 4 players, some players may still have cards left. In that case, those players add these remaining cards to their pile of won cards.
End of the Game
The sheet does not print an explicit end-of-game trigger. The rules text refers to the end of a game (see the caution above on cards left in hand with 3 or 4 players), so the game is taken to end once the players have played out their cards.
Who wins? The player who has won the most cards wins the game.
