Game Components

1 barn board, 8 path strips, 1 die, 8 wooden animals, 1 barn, 1 set of cards, 1 rulebook.

Before the First Game

Punch all of the cardboard pieces out of their panels. Dispose of the empty panels, as they won't be needed again.

Setup

Place the barn board in the center of the table and randomly place the 8 path strips around it. Make sure that the first space on each path is next to a different color on the barn board. Otherwise, arrange the paths however you like.

Assemble the barn by slotting the two pieces into each other and placing it in the middle of the barn board. Randomly place the eight animal figures onto the eight starting spaces, one to a space. Shuffle the cards and place them in a face-down deck together with the die.

How to Play

Take turns playing in a clockwise direction. Whoever last visited a farm is the first player.

Each player does the following two actions on their turn, in order:

Action 1: Roll the die – What does the die show?

A color

  • Each animal standing on a space of the color rolled is moved forward one space (away from the barn).

Farmer Fridolin

  • He knows his animals well and knows how to lure them back. Together choose an animal that has to go one step back towards the barn.

Lilli the Dog

  • Choose an animal to go back to the barn, all the way back to their starting space.

Tip: Send an animal back that is very far away from the barn and is about to run away.

Action 2: Draw a card

After you have rolled the die and performed that action, turn over the top card of the deck and do its action.

There are four types of cards:

Animal cards

The animal shown moves one space forward.

Luring cards

For each animal there is a certain thing that it likes so much that you can lure the animal back with this. You can see which animal has to go one step back in the top left corner of the card. In the example you see a carrot. This is Paula the Pony's favorite snack. She goes back one space.

Note: If you reveal a luring card for an animal that is on their starting space at that time, nothing happens.

Farmer Fridolin cards

Together choose an animal that has to go back one space.

Lilli the Dog cards

Together choose an animal that has to go back to their starting space.

Note: An animal that has been brought back to the barn can run away again if the color of its starting space is rolled or if its animal card is drawn.

After you have completed the action shown on the card, place it on the discard pile. Now the next player takes their turn.

End of the Game

The game ends as soon as all of the cards in the deck have been played, or an animal has moved off of their path and run away.

If no animal has left the last space on their path when the deck is empty, you have taken good care of the animals and you have won together. Well done!

However, if any animal moved off the last space on their path at any time during the game, they have run away. Unfortunately this means you have lost the game. Catch the sneaky rascal and try again!
