The Dice

There are four Drink Order Dice (Shots, Size, Milk, Drink), which determine specific coffee drink orders.

The Cards

The deck is made of different Coffee Cards:

  1. Drink - Cappuccino, Mocha, or Latte
  2. Size - Tall, Grande, or Vente
  3. Milk - Nonfat, Breve, or Soy
  4. Shots - Single, Double, or Triple
  5. Wild - A Wild Card can represent any element of a specific drink order.

There are also several Action Cards:

  1. Roll - Player must re-roll one Drink Order Die.
  2. Change - Player must change one Drink Order Die.
  3. Take - Player must take one card from another barista. If your card is taken, you must replace it with a blind draw from the top of the Draw Pile.
  4. Spill - Player can choose one opponent to spill his drink. A player with a spilled drink must discard his entire hand and re-draw four cards from the top of the Draw Pile.

To Begin

  1. Shuffle the cards and deal each player four cards facedown.
  2. Place the remaining card deck facedown on the table to create the Draw Pile.
  3. Place the Tip Tokens to one side. This is considered the "Tip Jar."
  4. Select a player to roll the four Drink Order Dice to determine the coffee drink that must be made to complete the first round.
  5. Arrange the Drink Order Dice on the table in the following order: Shots, Size, Milk, Drink.
  6. Place any of your cards that match the Drink Order Dice face down in front of you. If you have duplicate cards in your hand, only one of them can be placed facedown to match the Drink Order Dice.
  7. You can play any number of Wild Cards you may have to match the Drink Order Dice.

How to Play

  1. Starting with the person who rolled the Drink Order Dice and moving counterclockwise, begin the turn by taking one new card from the Draw Pile.
  2. You will now have five cards. To complete your turn, choose a single card from your hand to be played.
    • If you play a Drink Card, place it face down in front of you and discard one card. Play moves to the next player.
    • If you play an Action Card, complete the action on the card, discard it, and play moves to the next player.
    • If you have no play to make, choose a card to place on the Discard Pile and play moves to the next player.
    • Once a card is played, another player cannot pick it up.
  3. Play moves to the next player and begins by a draw of a new card from the Draw Pile.

Completing the First Round

The first barista to complete a perfect drink order calls out the drink and ends the round. This means the barista has only four cards, and they match the four Drink Order Dice. The winning barista receives two Tip Tokens from the Tip Jar.

Additional Orders

Collect and re-shuffle the cards. Begin a new round with a new dealer (player to the left), who will deal the cards and roll the Drink Order Dice. Resume play as in the first round.

Barista Challenge

Once you have collected at least one Tip Token, you can call a Barista Challenge during your turn. You gamble that although your drink order is not yet complete, it will be completed before at least one other player's drink order. Once you call for a Barista Challenge, complete your turn by discarding face up and completing any action required. Play moves to the next player. Each player has one final turn to try to beat the challenger. When all players have completed this last turn, reveal your hand. If you beat at least one player, then the challenge was successful, and you receive one Tip Token from the Tip Jar.

If you make an unsuccessful Barista Challenge, place one of your Tip Tokens back into the Tip Jar.

Scoring

Tips are awarded to the winning barista at the end of each round. Two Tip Tokens are awarded for completing a perfect drink order, and one Tip Token is awarded for calling a successful challenge. An unsuccessful challenge requires the challenging barista to pay one of his Tip Tokens back into the Tip Jar.

Winning the Game

The first barista to collect five Tip Tokens wins the game.
